Whats the deal with xbox 360s?

Posted on 12/17/2005 4:19:50 PM PST by SDGOP

I wasn't one of the people who stood in line for hours and hours when the xbox 360 first came out, but i was wondering if anyone knew if microsoft was making another shipment for before christmas or is it just hopeless? I went to the local EB and they said microsoft won't have another shipment until after the holidays. That kind of seems like a dumb idea, why cut off the shipments during the holidays? Can anybody shed some light on this, thanks.

If you have an HDTV the graphics are awesome.

That is an understatement. I've got the big new Sony. Gotham Racing and Madden are amazing.

I've heard that Best Buy will have new shipments on sale the morning of the 18th, but once they are sold out, that's it.

Ok, more info. Here is the URL for pictures of where your pre-ordered 360 ended up.

And here are some BB stock numbers. If this is accurate, they have a few hundred sitting around for the 18th.

Sorry about the long form, my HTML = suck.

Look, if you find a store that is going to have a shipment, you have to find yourself a teenager who will spend 24-48 hours in line for you. Pay them $50 plus all the Burger King they can eat, and you should have no problem. Give them a cell phone and have them call you 30min prior to the opening. Get your 360.

On very good authority - AMAZON.com has them. At least they did on Friday.

Son in law ordered one around Tgiving, from a place near his home in Colorado. It arrived last week.

Guess you ought to keep checking in your area.

So you can eradicate any sense of family and social contact from your life. Seems to work for others.

I'm sure you didn't mean to leave out the "totally escape from reality" part.

It's the old supply and demand game. Microsoft can make more money as people become desperate for this new toy, and will pay the going price or more for it. After the holidays, the product will be more widely available and they might even drop the price a bit. There will also be knock-offs available for sure.

Every single year, there is a new "must-have" TOY that drives shoppers berserk. The Xbox is equal to the Cabbage Patch Doll of the 1980s.

I do wish the libnuts would explain why everyone seems to have so much money lately that they can afford the Xbox...LOL. I thought we were all in soup kitchen lines!

Best Buy will have some for sale tomorrow morning. Each store has a different amount to sell, anywhere from 25 to 60 per store. Good luck though as the lines are already forming.

From what I've heard, Micro$oft intentionally limits the quantities of their initial releases so they can score marketing point by claiming "every until sold in XX days". They are intentionally limiting supplies to increase their prices and make their more gullible shareholders happy.

My husband just went to Best Buy in California to pick up our Christmas present (a flat screen TV), and he said people were camped out there waiting for xboxes.

They aren`t short. I just saw a few hundred of them in Akihabara (Japan) yesterday. I don`t know if they use the same software as American games or not, and I don`t care anyhow. I have a PC. =)

I`m glad my son is still too young to be caught up in the latest toy fads and the artificial "shortages" that come up every Christmas. Not much longer, though. *sigh*

I managed to get a 360 on the initial launch, 11/22. It was a bit crazy, but I got in line at 9 pm the night before. I waited in line overnight for 13 hours, in the cold windswept rain. It was a great bunch of people. It was funny to see people pulling into the parking lot at 4 Am and 5 Am thinking they were getting there early. Lol. I have a feeling there will be news stories of violence this time around.
