Armed New Hampshirites torch UN flag again

Posted on 12/19/2005 6:13:53 AM PST by Dada Orwell

Dec. 19, 2005

Carrying pitchforks, revolvers and pistols, 21 New Englanders came together in southwestern New Hampshire Sunday for the Second Annual UN Flag Burn. All smiles despite sub-freezing weather, most indicated they are members of NHfree.com, a local offshoot of the Free State Project.

Demonstrators focused particular scorn on the UN's repeated efforts to support gun bans around the world. But a more subtle goal is to re-inforce New Hampshire's Live Free or Die reputation, drawing additional freedom lovers to move to the state.

"This kind of thing helps get the word out," says activist Dave Ridley of Keene. "If you are a freedom lover, there's a party going on in New Hampshire, and you're missing it."

Since New Hampshire was chosen as a target for migration by the libertarian Free State Project, about 150 have moved and become increasingly vocal in the state's political process.

DOH i would have loved to have been there myself
still if these "free staters" were doing a better job Kerry would NEVER have carried New Hampshire and Lynch would not be Governor.
Benson was a vocal supporter of free staters and he lost reelection. MeThinks their power is overstated

New Hampshire is quickly turning "blue" thanks to migration from three of the filthiest states in the nation, its neighbors Massachusetts,Vermont and Maine.

As a result, demonstrations like this will soon be a thing of the past there.

True enough, but the Free State project is pretty young. Wasn't NH only just selected a couple of years ago? Give it time, it is a good idea, and as folks are able, they will move there. Gotta excercise that pedal franchise (voting with one's feet).

Cheers,
Top sends

A better idea would be to market light blue toilet paper with the UN logo embossed on each sheet. That way you'd be able to put some money where your...uh...mouth is...wait...no...oh well, you probably get my drift.

On Michigan's "UN Day" celebration, anti-UN demonstrators are warned by police that it is only legal to burn an American flag. Burning a UN flag will get you ticketed by Lansing police.

They are just getting started, and don't have anywhere near the political resources yet to offset the mob of Democratic campaign operatives who flood across the border every election season. During the 2004 election half of the people holding signs in front of our town hall were from out of state. And several of the towns that went big for Kerry are full of students, many from you know where.

I'd have liked to go.

The UN needs to leave the US, and the US ought to bail out of the UN.

That said, I think burning the UN flag, and only the UN flag is justifiable in America. Personally though, I see it as an act of patriotism, and a display of love and zeal for our nation.

Excepting dignified retirement ceremonies as prescribed by law or traditional custom, burning the US flag, any State flag, or any nation's flag for that matter is unjustifiable and an act of severe hate against our country.

But there's nothing against an American burning the flag of a corrupt megalomaniac organization, especially when said organization seeks to instigate violence, death, and destruction against America while simultaneously robbing her of billions of dollars to bankroll the widespread and uncalled-for Anti-American hate.

It would be akin to 1984's Big Brother demanding that Goldstein pay loads of money to the Party, only for the Party to continually hold Two Minutes' Hate against him.

Maybe these UN flag burnings really should be a more widespread phenomenon. Though, if I did it on my campus right now, I'd probably be shot, lol...

I say we have a Burn the 1040 Form day on April 15th in front of every post office in the country.

Now THAT would be a good idea.

Too bad I missed it as I live about 45 miles away... Don't worry about NH turning blue. We were red in 2000 and without that small patch of red in the otherwise blue northeast, Gore would have been president.... Kerry did take the state in 2004 but it was the northern counties that voted for him while southern NH went republican. The people moving north from MA (I escaped MA ten years ago) are usually conservatives... When Hilary gets the nod in 2008, we'll be bright red...
