Robertson, who was appointed to the federal bench in Washington by President Bill Clinton in 1994 and was later selected by then-Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist to serve on the FISA court, declined to comment when reached at his office late yesterday.

If there was no explanation, how does anyone know it was in protest.

Activist Judge throwing a tantrum? Why didn't he do this during Clinton's tenure?

part of their strategy to keep this story going - they get a clinton appointee to walk - he will probably write a book now or an op-ed in the Times.

This judge is an extremist. He is one of the 11 judges. In the article it says he has been going against bush for a long time.

Other judges in the article aren't taking his stand.

There's is no statement in this article which says why exactly he resigned.

He was concerned about Bush's acts, but nothing says that's why he resigned.

I understand all that.

all I am saying is - this isn't some "random" move, some heartfelt personal decision by this judge. its orchestrated, part of the plan. and this is a bold move, to get a FISA judge to "resign" like this.

the left is going all the way with this - they want impeachment.

Good. We don't want a bias liberal judge having a negative effect on the FISA process. Don't let the door bump you in the ass on the way out bozo.

Not my title. The compost prints what it wants, how it wants to say it whether it's in the article or not.

In a setback for the Bush administration, U.S. District Judge James Robertson found that detainees at the Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, may be prisoners of war under the Geneva Conventions and therefore entitled to the protections of international and military law -- which the government has declined to grant them.

I would like to see how many of the other FISA judges were appointed by Clinton.
