I wouldn't be so quick to give John Spencer the nomination. President Nixon's son-in-law, Edward Cox, might jump back into the race if Pirro backs out. And a Sullivan County tax attorney, William Brenner, is also running.

Unfortunately, none of these candidates can beat Hillary! in this liberal state. John Spencer has little name recognition outside Westchester County. But at least he wouldn't be afraid to bloody up Hillary!. I don't know whether Cox would be willing to engage in hand-to-hand combat with Hillary!, but he might have a little more name recognition among folks who remember President Nixon. Unfortunately for Cox, most New Yorkers don't have warm memories of President Nixon. Brenner has zero name recognition and zero chance of winning anything.

Cox has NEVER run for or been elected to any public office. He has already shown that he has no backbone when Pataki chased him out of the race.

John Spencer turned Yonkers around and won 65% of the vote in a heavily Democrat city.
