Tancredo to Pres. Fox: Mind Your Own Business Congressional Desk

By Congressional Desk December 21, 2005 Congressman Ridicules Mexico’s President for Leveling Threats against U.S. for Immigration Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) condemned Mexico’s President Vicente Fox for his threats against the United States over Congress’ recent actions to secure the border. Tancredo led a coalition of reform advocates in the House of Representatives to pass a bill last week that would, among other things, build a security fence along portions of the U.S.’s southern border, mandate that employers verify the legal status of employees and prevent local governments from harboring illegal aliens. President Fox called the bill “shameful” and his foreign secretary told the Associated Press, “Mexico is not going to bear, it is not going to permit, and it will not allow a stupid thing like this wall.”

“Which United States citizens voted Vicente Fox into office? Vicente Fox was not elected by the American people—how dare he butt into our domestic policies,” said Tancredo. “I, myself, have a bit of advice for Fox: it’s not becoming of a member of the ‘international community’ to lob vague threats at one’s neighbor. No ‘amigo’ of the U.S. threatens our sovereignty, and no good neighbor would entangle itself in our domestic politics.”

Tancredo continued, “Fox’s comments are symptomatic of the disordered relationship between our two countries. Mexico has become addicted to the remittances that Mexicans—both legal and illegal—send back from the United States. Those remittances represent nearly the greatest source of foreign direct investment into the country. Just like any addict, Mexico will do almost anything to get its next fix.”

“Although I continue to be disturbed by Mexico’s intentional, premeditated circumvention of U.S. immigration laws, I am no longer surprised,” concluded Tancredo. “Fox is a known quantity. His former foreign secretary told a Senate committee that Mexico wouldn’t cooperate with the U.S. unless we allowed an ever-increasing flow of laborers into our country. He established a ministry for Mexicans living in the U.S. His government has produced step-by-step guides for entering the U.S. illegally. And, his military routinely crosses onto U.S. soil, which violates every domestic and international law on the books. I’m disturbed but not surprised.”

I'd love to see Tancredo become Head of DHS, with free reign, under the next (R) administration.

Even though he does not have a chance in hell of winning a national election, he does force other GOP members to get tough on the issue. Like it or not, he is probably closer to the majority opinion on this issue then the Republican leadership. I am hopeful that Bush is getting the message, however, and will take action.

If he would run for President I wouldn't have to sit out the next election.

Ditto.

"If he would run for President I wouldn't have to sit out the next election."

I can definetly understand how you feel, but I think that if you were to decide not to vote for the GOP candidate, it would be best to vote third party, and atleast help get the message across to the conservative leadership that you are unhappy with the direction they are heading. If I were to choose not to vote Republican, which I hope will not be the case because I am pulling for Allen, I would just vote for a conservative third party. The Republican leadership will only get the message when they start losing votes to third party conservatives.

Blahahaha! What are you going to do about it Fox? The wall will be built, and their is nothing you can do about it.

Congress's next move should be to pass laws stopping the flow of illegals sending money to mexico.

What Republican candidate or candidates do you believe would be an outstanding nominee for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination?

Just sent him a thank you. I have the utmost respect for Congressman Tancredo. I also love it that he won't mince words and says it like it is. It's refreshing.

BTTT

Wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air to have a President who actually represents America instead of Mexico?

Tancredo is being nice. Being not so nice, my response would contain some cuss words.

I heard him on the radio with someone filling in for Sean Hannity. Tancredo is 'being nice', but he is strong, knowledgeable and presents his case quite effectively. Wouldn't want him to be like Hillary/Teddy/Nancy, would you? :o)
