Letter to New York Post
The New York Post ^ | December 25, 2005 | Richard Slawsky

Posted on 12/25/2005 12:40:10 PM PST by oldtimer2

I offer a proposal: The U.S. military will withdraw from Iraq, the Patriot Act will not be renewed and the United States will stop monitoring phone calls by potential terrorists.

In return, if there is another terrorist attack on the United States, the Democratic Party will disband and contribute all of its assets to the families of victims, all Democratic senators and congressmen will resign and The New York Times will contribute $1 trillion to the fund for the families.

Fair deal?

Richard Slawsky Milford, Conn.

I thought this proposal is a perfectly reasonable answer to the Democrats and news organizations that continue to oppose the War on Terror.

By the way, read all the letters at the link.

Richard is right on the money. Any American that votes for the Democrat "traitor/treason" Party is either insane is is hooked heavily on drugs. End of story!!!

Disagree. The Dems are perfectly willing to sacrifice a US city as a means to getting the Presidency, Congress and the Senate back.

December 25, 2005 -- THE ISSUE: The fierce battle in Washington over extending the Patriot Act.

What Dick Morris wrote in his article regarding the Democrats' opposition to continuing roving wiretaps should make more Americans, especially New Yorkers, angry ("Dems for Terror," PostOpinion, Dec. 20).

Stopping the wiretaps — not allowing President Bush to do his job of protecting us from all attackers, foreign, or domestic — is irresponsible.

How many more times does this country need to be attacked before we finally get the message that Morris and Bush are telling us?

Rich Pardo Nutley

****

We have hit an all-time low when one party of our political system makes more disparaging remarks about our president than about our enemy.

We have fallen into an irrevocable and deadly abyss when a political party would rather refuse to pass the legislation necessary to protect the people of this nation than help the sitting president from the other party fight our enemies.

Joseph Facciolo Rome

****

It is reprehensible that Sen. Clinton played petty, partisan politics with our safety by blocking the renewal of the Patriot Act, considering that Bill Clinton's policy of appeasement led to 9/11 and the chaos that followed.

This is another reason why we can never have another Clinton co-presidency — it would be suicidal.

Anne Mason The Bronx

****

Sens. Charles Schumer and Clinton have criticized key provisions of the Patriot Act and voted to let them expire.

Morris points out that similar provisions were crucial in foiling a plot to destroy the Brooklyn Bridge and capturing the would-be bomber.

I don't have the elite legal credentials of Schumer and Clinton, but I have something more potent — common sense. And my common sense tells me that the safety and well-being of my family take precedence over the civil liberties of terrorists.

Instead of scrutinizing every action Bush takes to maintain America's safety, why don't Democrats work with him to defeat terrorism?

It is unfortunate for the safety of the once great country, but I think you are 1,000% correctamundo on that.

You echoed my thoughts.

If I survive a major, Islamic attack... I will claw or crawl my way to Washington and cap as many of them as I can.

My recommendation is that the letter be mass mailed to every member of the Senate and House plus Howard Dean; return receipt requested! Unfortunately, Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer will have to have someone explain it to them as they don't have a clue about real life; they're living in a make-believe world where everyone "makes nice."

Good idea, but it will never happen. When was the last time you ever saw a demonrat actually take responsibility for their actions?
Never happen.

Stop blaming the drugs. The supporters of the Democratic Party were mentally defective and logically handicapped before they took the first toke. However, it could be the Paxil/Prozac/Zoloft stuff. Combine that stuff with a little liquor and you get a personality back, but THAT personality is all bad.
