Say it ain't so, Jeff!
Tomorrow, the NYTimes will run a front page story blaming the entire incident on President Bush.

The 50-year-old Reardon retired in 1994 Do you know what happens to guys his age in prison? I don't have firsthand knowledge, but it's a fair guess that Reardon isn't going to have a good time of it.

"Yes, it looks like a trip to showers for Jeff. After he's been processed and filed of course. That reminds me of the time Joe Niekro was caught with a file up in Minnesota..."

I think he's gone a little loopy. Depression and anti-depression drugs playing yo-yo with his brain.
He'll likely plead to lesser charges, avoid prison and get a better doctors along with a new toupee.

He may be a person incapable of handling all the problems in his life. Perhaps he was subconsciously angling for copacide in the bank foray.

He committed the robbery, claming in a note to have a gun, though he didn't have one. He grabbed some money and ran out of the mall. He then walked up to a security guard in the parking lot, confessed and showed him the shopping bag with the money. He waited with the guard for the police to arrive and cooperated, apologizing all the time.
This is a person with problems, not a person to be condemned. He apparently doesn't have financial problems, has had recent personal tragedy and has just had major surgery. He is under heavy medication and it sounds like the doctors got the dosages or interactions screwed up. We are all lucky that this is all he did under the circumstances. Particularly him. This is a classic case of someone who needs help, not punishment.

One of the top relief pitchers in Major League Baseball history LOL!
Reardon had a LOSING major league career record of 73-77!
Oh hell, put him in the Hall of Fame. Everybody to wear spikes pratically is put in the Hall of Mediocrity Fame. His high number of saves was due to his number of innings pitched which is due to the lack of quality pitchers available.
