Former San Diego Charger Scott Turner smiles after announcing he will run for the 50th Congressional District at the Santa Fe Christian School in Solana Beach on Tuesday.

Good looking guy. We need more black republicans. I wish this guy good luck.

Turner made no mention of ethnicity in his announcementGood, I think people will figure that out all by themselves.

I hope he has thick skin, because being black and Republican is a mortal sin to the NAACP.

"Turner's political resume is bare except for a 2004 volunteer internship"
That would be my biggest reason to vote for him. Being a neophyte, means he has not been corrupted yet. If elected, I would start to worry along about the third or fourth term. By the end of their fifth term the vast majority are bought and paid for. Randy "Duke" Cunningham comes to mind. Jame Wright comes to mind. Dan Rostenkowski comes to mind. and on and on and on and on...........................

Nope. You're thinking of the 'Hutch' in Seattle. His first name escapes me, last name Hutchinson.

Ken Hutchinson.....he's on the Radio KTTH here right now.

Thanks, you're right. The name sounded familiar to me outside of an NFL context and I thought maybe that's where I'd heard of him before.

"Turner, who was joined for his announcement by about two dozen supporters, including former Los Angeles Laker A.C. Green."It's been a while but I do recall seeing a story on A.C. Green and I remember being very impressed. He was definitely a clean square peg in the filthy round hole of the NBA.

It would be cool to have someone who is not a political retread in that office!

I'd always at least take a good look at a guy like this! Young, nice-looking, previously successful in his "civilian" line of work, and without the often-to-be-run-away-from-at-all-costs "political track record"...LOL!!
Not all politics/politicians are dirty, of course, but seems especially the state/local level ones can end up being real trouble...so depending on if he's got a good "track record" for integrity in general, and has reasonably conservative ideas and convictions, boy would that be cool to see him win!! (CBC would be ticked...hehehe!!)

Name recognition in the local market is important, but only sports fans are likely to be familiar with him. He has a tough row to hoe; God bless him and his efforts!

At first I thought there was some kind of spoof in this article regarding Randall Cunningham.
