HMMMMMM, sounds like there is budding romance for the New Year!! I hope he DOES like you, IF you like him!

I am glad you are getting to go out...you have so much that you do for your kids...and others, that you deserve to have a good time yourself.

Please let us know how the date goes...I can't wait!!!

Your menu sounds so delicious!! Would you mind sharing your recipe for the "Buttermilk Cornbread." I love corn bread, so I know I'd love it with buttermilk in it. Thanks.

I used the king headboard that came with our bedroom set. The mattress, etc fits in the frame of your bed..right? So you should be able to purchase ANY California King head and footboard. We don't have a foot-board, because we have an "adjustable" Select Comfort..it raises and reclines. I suppose we could, tho...

I think it was called " klatski's" Or something similar.

Doesn't ring a bell with me, but I was very young when my grandmother died...and, sadly, not much was passed on. I've pinged Carlo3b, and if he's feeling better, he might know the answer to your question.

To tell you the truth, I hadn't thought about any personal hopes and dreams yet...

I will have to contemplate that...and get back to you..

We upgraded from a queen and stuffed the headboard, etc. in storage. I got the Cal/King with frame, and haven't found a descent one in Cal/King size. I see alot in King, but Cal-King is wider. Always told I must special order it.

Anyway, that's on the list of "things to do" soon.

Now practice I can handle...but, I am going to have to teach my granddaughters the conservative, Republican ways..

NO more babies for me...being a grandmother is SO much more fun.

If you make a resolution to drop a few pounds and you're a fan of good cole slaw (tastes like KFC), try this:

Low fat, low carb, low calorie cole slaw!

Ingredients:

1 cup Fat Free Miracle Whip (or fat free whipped salad dressing)
6 packets of Equal
8 cups of finely chopped cabbage
1/4 cup of carrots, finely minced
2 tablespoons onion, minced

Combine Equal and Fat Free Miracle Whip in a large bowl capable of being covered. Use an electric mixer to completely combine Equal and Miracle Whip. Add cabbage, carrots, and onion. Toss well to firmly coat vegetables. Cover and place in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Do not eat prior to full refrigeration of 24 hours (not a health concern, but definitely a taste concern).

Last time I checked, a 3/4 cup serving had something like 55 calories, 3 grams of carbs and 0 grams of fat.

Actually, you really need a headboard and a footboard. Our bed doesn't have a footboard andd the select comfort mattress is so light weight that it migrates footward. So much so that we get a large gap between the head of the mattress and the headboard. Our pillows fall into the hole. Every morning we have to retrieve the pillows out of the hole and push the mattress back into place before making the bed.

You might want to ask Select Comfort if they have any bed frames that have overcome this problem, or if they can recommend anything.

What are your hopes and dreams for '06?

Politically:

-- We (finally) find Saddam's WMDs and deprive the Democrats of most of their anti-war ammo in the process.

-- Iran's nuclear facilities are destroyed with precision air strikes and then the young, wanne-westernized Iranian revolutionaries overthrow the Mullahs.

-- The majority of Americans come to the realization that most Democrat politicians and their fanatical base actually hope we lose the WOT. ....and then they toss the traitors out of office in Nov. in a landslide.

......just realized this list could go on forever, so feel free to expand it.

Okay, okay...I'm planning to use a Hormel Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin which has been marinating in teriyaki since the Golden Quarter. I'm going to gently dry all the teriyaki off it, then coat it with honey, then rub it down with Paul Prudhomme's Magic barbecue rub, then rotisserie it in the Showtime. Then slice it up on the bias and present it with Jasmine rice and fresh baked beer bread. No need to apply if you are a rabbit friendly vegetable. 'Nuff said. Good God a'mighty.

Well...that'll be enough for ME...but what are YOU gonna have? :)

Your New Year's Day Menu sounds delicious! We're also staying close to home for the same reason you are. I'm praying that the Lord will send North Texas and Souther Oklahoma some much needed rain.

Have a Happy New Year!

I did the e-mail as well as to all those who advertise for them on radio (Rush, Hannity, Ingraham) but get no reply from anyone.

I have the pillows lost every morning which is the only complaint I have with the bed, and a frame/headboard-footboard set would fix that problem!

Yum. A good way to spice up Coleslaw is to add Celery Seed.

The same here in Texas....there is a burn ban...BUT, they didn't close down the fireworks stands...does NOT make sense.

My son is kind of excited...he is a flight instructor and manages a flight school, here in Arlington..and the Texas Air NAtional Guard have parked a hugh transport plane used to fight fires at his airport...and the guard will be on stand by from there all weekend.

I am sure he is gonna want to go up with them if they go...

A couple of weeks ago, there was a fire at that airport..and 8 planes from a different company burned up...but when the news people got there...they interviewed my son for the 10 o'clock news...

I WOULD have been proud, except he didn't call and tell me he was going to be on...he called everyone but ME! LOL
