Certainly sounds like 'Must See TV' to me. /sarc

The description sounds absolutely dreadful. They should wait a couple more years until they've gone further with coarsening Society before going ahead with this. In this respect it is ahead of it's time. The Public hasn't been properly dumbed down yet.

WHY do the idiots in the media think that this is the kind of programming that will attract large "media market share"??

Anti liberal Sarcasm Torpedo ARMED. FIRE!!

Because it's all they know. I suspect some of these shows are little more than thinly disguised autobiographies of the Hollywood riff-raff.

Cheers1

Hollywood consistently wants to focus on those types of Christians and those types of ministers

Business as usual for Hollyweird

Religious and spiritual concerns aside, it looks like a lousy show anyway.

That's what scares me. We all know how NBC likes to stick with bad shows.

We recently had Nielson diaries at our house and when we had finished them I realizes the only thing during the month that we watched on NBC was "Law and Order" ans we watched absolutely nothing on CBS.

Am I dreaming or did I see a figure in the promo-commercials of a person who looks like the popular rendition of Jesus Christ in the passenger seat of the car? I must have because I was suddenly outraged, I can't believe it was my imagination.

Of course, they all make such clever, cynical little quips, one after another. Blasphemy! But what do they care? Ignoring this trash is not enough and please don't tell me to punch the channel button, this goes far beyond that sort of nonsense, just like the p*** Christ "art".

Wouldn't be PC but would be funny as all getout. And the guest actors could always be blown up in some tragic mishap before they got to their goal.

Because in Hollywood's lexicon the uptight Catholic priests are only child molesters.

For a show like this, they pick Episcopals because then they can smear Catholics by way of similarity but "anything goes" thus bringing forth their brand of an "enlightened" catholic church.

They couldn't do it using a Baptist minister for example, for Hollywood they're only unfaithful husbands and then you don't poke an eye at the Catholics since the rites and traditions are so different.

You were not dreaming. That's in the commercials. However, this priest is addicted to pain killers or something thus he might be talking to a hallucination.

I suspect you're right--the shows are a reflection of THEIR life-styles.

Not your imagination.

I would guess that this Jesus Christ figure is a device to spread the liberal gospel: homosexual behavior is a-okay, fiscal conservatives are the new Pharisees, there is no sin but the sin of judging sinful behavior to be sinful etc.

Ask potential advertisers not to sponsor 'The Book of Daniel'Main character says if the show offends some Catholics, "I don't really care..."

Dear Karen,

Visit the new AFA Superstore today!Despite receiving nearly a half-million emails, NBC still intends to begin their new series The Book of Daniel next Friday. While NBC refuses to release the sponsors of the program, AFA has identified 10 potential sponsors. Send them an email asking them not to sponsor the show. Ask local advertisers on your NBC affiliate to pull their advertising from the local station if they carry The Book of Daniel.

The network is promoting "The Book of Daniel" as a serious drama about Christian people and the Christian faith. The characters include: Daniel Webster, a drug-addicted Episcopal priest; his alcoholic wife; his son, a 23-year-old homosexual Republican; his daughter, a 16-year-old drug dealing daughter; a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop's daughter; his lesbian secretary who is sleeping with his sister-in-law; and a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Jesus who talks to the priest.

The writer for the program is Jack Kenny, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being "in Catholic recovery," and is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation and isn't sure exactly how he defines God and/or Jesus. "I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him (Jesus) is true," he said.

Aidan Quinn, who plays Rev. Webster, said if the show offends some Catholics, "I don't really care..."

Take Action Now! Time is Short!

What can you do:

  1. Print out the AFA pass along sheet and distribute it in your Sunday School class and at your church this Sunday. Ask your pastor to urge members to call their local NBC affiliate asking the station not to air the program. [ http://www.afa.net/passalong/pdf/nbc_bookofdaniel.pdf ]

  2. Contact local advertisers on your NBC affiliate and ask them to pull their advertising from the local affiliate if it carries the show. (By Federal Law, NBC cannot force the local affiliate to air the show. The local affiliate has the option not to air the program. Federal Law - 47 C.F.R. 73.658(e)) [ http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/get-cfr.cgi?TITLE=47&PART=73&SECTION=658&YEAR=2004&TYPE=TEXT ]

  3. Send an email to ten potential sponsors asking them not to sponsor The Book of Daniel. [ https://secure.afa.net/afa/afapetition/takeaction.asp?id=177 ]

  4. Forward this information to your family and friends.
Finally, would you consider a small financial gift to help AFA continue this battle? Click here to help. [ http://www.afa.net/donate.asp ]

Sincerely,

Don

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

P.S. Many of your family and friends aren't aware of NBC's The Book of Daniel. Please forward this to them.

I read somewhere that the priest is supposed to take drugs, too, or have some kind of drug problem.

I won't be watching it because I don't want to smash my tv.

"...the Webster family reportedly includes a 23-year-old homosexual, Republican son; a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer; and an adopted son involved in an improper relationship with the bishop's daughter."

You left out his lesbian secretary who's having an affair with his (IIRC) sister-in-law. Must-Not-See TV, indeed.

"...Episcopal priest named Daniel Webster who talks with a manifestation of Jesus."

What's a "manifestation of Jesus"?

Is that like an avatar of a Hindu god or something?

I hate when the pagans try to steal our Lord from us and recreate Him in their own image.
