It's time to recognize that America's war on terror is being fought in places other than Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, our most critical theater of war is being fought at the US-Mexico border.
Our enemies are unlawful migrants who willfully violate our borders and thumb their noses at U.S. immigration laws. For the most part, they are third-world miscreants who, once in America, are bankrupting our health care and education systems. Illegal immigrants avail themselves of health care with no ability or desire to pay for services received.
Although their unpaid bills are forcing scores of hospitals here to close, illegals manage to send between $30-40 billion back to Mexico....each year!
Most importantly, US national security is in serious jeopardy: Al-Quaida is known to regard the porous border with Mexico as an attractive venue for entering the country in order to kill thousands, if not millions, of US citizens.
Given the extreme dangers posed by unprotected borders, it is an outrage that President Bush refuses to provide intelligent leadership on this issue, and even referred to the heroic Minutemen in Arizona as "vigilantes." Apparently the president, along with other GOP politicians, is more interested in growing big business profits than protecting American lives.
On the other side of the aisle, Democrats regard American national security as a lesser priority than preserving their monopoly of the Hispanic vote. Forget about homeland security, they seem to say, political power is more important. Some Republicans and all Democrats, encouraged by the mass media, preach that "immigration reform" is needed. But, history suggests otherwise.
In 1986 Congress enacted major immigration reforms, including amnesty for millions. That reform has been a dismal failure, because another 15 million illegal aliens have swarmed into the US since then.
Clearly, just reforming immigration law is not the answer.
To begin with, more than 1.1 million illegal aliens were apprehended at the US-Mexico border in 2004. Add to that another one half million or so who succeeded and you have at least 1.6 million impoverished migrants to deal with each year.
However, America does not need 1.6 million additional unskilled, uneducated, non-English speaking workers each year!
So, is it reasonable to expect that reform, which allows say only 200,000 guest workers in, would fix the problem? The answer is obviously a resounding NO!
Rather, aggressive protection of our borders and strict enforcement of existing laws is all that is needed. Thankfully, Minutemen volunteers in Arizona sent powerful messages to the Bush Administration and to Mexico: Illegal immigration CAN be stopped!
In just a few short weeks, these brave patriots caused the Bush administration to increase the number of government agents assigned to the border. Still woefully inadequate, but an increase nonetheless.
Even more remarkable is the success of the Minutemen in forcing Mexico to act responsibly. Before our courageous volunteers engaged this issue, the Mexican government was actively promoting illegal flight into the US, even producing "how to" booklets! for would-be illegal aliens to follow.
This outrageous policy is apparently a direct result of President Vicente Fox's blatant lack of respect for US sovereignty, as shown by his repeated advocacy of open borders and amnesty for all. (Mr. Fox's liberal philosophy applies only to migration into the US. When it comes to illegal migrants seeking to squat in Mexico, Fox is decidedly militant and deports such people ASAP).
In order to win the war on terror, President Bush must apply the same energy and passion that he used in Iraq and Afghanistan to the war being waged at our borders. And politicians from both major parties must abandon concern for profits and partisan politics in favor of responsible governance.
America can not win the war on terror without securing our borders and ending illegal immigration.
I heard a interview w/a Senator from Colorado that is leading the charge to protect our border. He says it is a growing issue and that it will be the biggest story in '06. Call your congressmen & women and apply pressure. I think we can make the debate how to protect the border instead of if.
BTTT
The war in Iraq is currently taking a lot of heat off of this issue. Once it winds down, the border will be the next battleground, and neither party will be able to hide from it.
Violent Crime in Phoenix has skyrocketed over the last five years and the liberals can't figure out why.
My question to them is "Why would you think that someone who flagrantly broke the law to get into this country would then respect the law once they were here?"
The border issue is huge. All it takes is one big bang with lots of dead Americans, not just the odd illegal driving the wrong way on the freeway to escape the cops, or a rape and robbery here and there, or various other criminal enterprises we're told are too piddling to bother about.
One terrorist attack here with the perps having come through Mexico, and heads will roll. Perhaps the fence will help, but more is needed. A quarter of Mexico's population is already here, and half of the remainder (the middle class), have declared in a poll they'd love to head north. Meanwhile Mexican bureaucrats snigger publicly about 'integrating' with the US, and what do we do? Last year we gave them $50 million to police their side of the border. This ended up in corrupt politicians' and police pockets and paid for bullets the Mexican army shot at US border patrol agents...on US soil.
Minutemen BTTT!
First FR ping of '06...
Not to say this is a "breaking news" subject...hehehe
Happy New Year!
Memo to President Bush and our Congressional Leadership:
SECURE OUR BORDERS. Stop whining and making excuses.
Amnesty in 2006=Hillary in 2008
"This ended up in corrupt politicians' and police pockets and paid for bullets the Mexican army shot at US border patrol agents...on US soil."
Correct.
Build the wall, deport illegals, punish employers that hire illegals.
... In fact, our most critical theater of war is being fought at the US-Mexico border...
No, it is not being fought, it is being surrendered.
Yeah. And I say we need to put up that wall around our borders spoken of by the House of Reps. As far as V. Fox goes, think about it. He's a nut. And where does our constitution say that we should pay him any mind, anyway?
It's the red chinese SOLDIERS sneaking across the mexican border you should be worried about. They trans-ship thru panama and take the train north. Beijing is orchestrating it all : a RED DAWN attack on our military bases/arsenals and electric power infrastructure/gas pipelines. They will of course explain it as an "uprising" by mexicans against capitalistic exploiters. A pure lie of course, but that's why you should "gun-up" asap. Just as in the movie, RED DAWN, it will be american citizens that re-take our country back from these jackels, not our far-flung military stretched thin all over the world.
I'm looking forward to it.

I couldn't agree more!
Pearl Harbor : 3000 dead, a wakeup call. 9/11 : 3000 dead, another wakeup call. This coming RED DAWN movie is going to be still another wakeup call, besides you, who else is ready for it? My national guard service was half a century ago...and I'm a bit out of shape from when we double timed 25 miles out and back, with full field packs, at the end of basic training, without breaking a sweat. I'd probably have trouble even making my marksman rating anymore, it's you young whippersnappers that will mostly have to carry the day against these chi-com infiltrators...
