Say What? Now Trump Hints At Prez Run
New York Post ^

ALBANY Megabuilder and late-blooming TV star Donald Trump yesterday flatly ruled out running for governor this year but hinted he may go for president in 2008. Trump, in a phone call to The Post from his oceanside Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago, declared, "I'm not going to run for governor because I'm having too much fun doing what I'm doing now.
"I'm the largest builder in New York, I'm building things all over the country, I have one of the top shows on television. It's a little hard to leave all of that."
Trump, a Republican, said he had been "inundated with calls" from GOP leaders since state Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno (R-Rensselaer) suggested last week that "The Apprentice" star might run for governor.
Trump, 59, called Bruno "a great guy" and a "longtime friend," and said Bruno's hint was "a great honor."
But while The Donald repeatedly ruled out a race for statewide office, he strongly suggested he was interested in entering the national political arena in 2008...

Trump is only 59? Geez, he looks a LOT OLDER! He is only 4 years older than I am, and he looks 20 years older than me.

Trump is a publicity whore. Touting himself day in and day out.
His casinos are just out of bankruptcy. He has a wandering eye, and is generally a loud mouthed phony.

Trump is not a "Republican".
He's just another greedy, ego-manical, narcissistic, self obsessed, "short fingered vulgarian" (Spy magazine, the 80's).

A cheap attempt at another reality show. If this is true, Trump has jumped the shark.

I saw a documentary on him a while back, and he was described by a former executive in one of his companies as nothing more than a con artist.
I'm inclined to agree. If I were an investor in any of his business ventures I would have bailed out as soon as he started writing books and producing that stupid television show.

The real question is whether or not he can carry out a strong policy of aggressive self defense against enemies foreign and domestic. The second question is what economic policies does he engender.
If he's only a "republican" because he likes getting tax cuts and invitations to meet with political bigwigs on a regular basis, then he's the wrong kind of republican. He'd be no different than Bill Clinton in most respects if that is the case. No real agenda except self aggrandizement and the road to riches with no real dedication to the principles of small government.

Have you heard Mr. Trump's radio features? He sounds like he's having his arm torn off while voicing them.
The man is everywhere and I admire his business acumen. But to suggest this guy as a political leader is nothing more than a way to fill columns of newsprint.

How in hell could anyone have less class than Clinton?
Clinton is the baseline for a "no class" whore hopping, traitorous, corrupt sonuvabitch that ranks as one of he worst men to have ever "served" in public office...

I don't admire his business acumen at all. His "success" has involved multiple bankruptcy filings (he doesn't even own his casino empire anymore, since his creditors acquired controlling interest as part of his last re-organization), and his self-promotion act is very similar to that stupid "Beardstown Ladies" con game from a few years back.

He inherited his wealth in real estate from his father. My step-mother once rented a place from his father years ago in Staten Island. Young Donald would come around to collect the rent. He was a brat back then too. He's done some good things for NYC, but a genius he's not.

Thank you Will and Grace. This place is really snazzed up. I gotta say, of the non-Trump buildings in New York, this place has a whole lotta flash, and it really screams out Merry Christmas...(looks off-camera) What? I can't say Christmas? Who made that rule? Well, what about Cha-noo-kah-hah? I can't say that? What about Kwan-zoo? That's just great...Alright, let's crank this thing out. And there were shepherds keeping watch over their flocks by night; then a civil representative of the town came up to them and said "Here's the thing: a baby has been born to a lady of undetermined ethnicity and/or religious affiliation. You will find he or she is wrapped in clothes looking really classy and lying in a barn-box...(looks off-camera again) What the hell is a barn-box? (looks back at the camera) You know what? The End.
