Don’t Call Bill O’Reilly a Libertarian

O’Reilly may not know you called him a Libertarian. He even may not care. But, the Libertarians care a lot. They are very serious about who gets to wear their club label. When I gave O’Reilly an ‘attaboy’ in my last piece about Christians pushing back for CHRISTmas, I called him a Libertarian because I know he isn’t a Conservative.

O’Reilly may be conservative on some issues, but they’re too few to make him a Conservative. I thought Libertarian fit him better than Conservative. Woe is me.

I got a lot of very energetic email. The Libertarians want a retraction and an apology. Apology? Was I rude or did I hurt their feelings? I guess I’ve been a Conservative too long to be that politically sensitive. I’ve heard my political philosophy, political party and faction mischaracterized wrongly more than rightly. I’ve gotten my share of personal insults and hate mail, so I thought that came with the territory of free speech.

The Libertarians, given the email I got, are really upset that Bill O’Reilly supports the War on Drugs. Secondly, it’s his statist support for Federal funding of things not found in the Constitution. Lastly, his support of the War on Islamist Terror – specifically, the campaign in Iraq is non-Libertarian (they called O’Reilly a Neo-Con). Oh, yeah, and O’Reilly is against Homosexual Marriage. There are other smaller issues too.

Libertarians of America, I concede. Bill O’Reilly is not a Libertarian. Bill O’Reilly is just O’Reilly.

Now for the apology. I’m sorry if I wounded any American citizen who is so weak that when some dufus is given their political label, they are hurt personally. We should ‘love others as you would have them love yourself’.

Getting Bill O’Reilly’s political adjectives is a trivial matter to begin this new year writing. But, it’s serious to consider how labels have been wrong for so long – intentionally. Because words have meaning, the labels matter. The MSM spews these distortions every day.

Liberals are called Moderates. Or Progressives. Actually, they’re Liberal Human Secularists. This PC-Think is a budding totalitarianism which shares the intellectual lineage of Nazi Human Secularists and Communist Human Secularists. Liberals hate those true colors. The best short hand is that Liberals are Socialists. They’re also Liberal Puritans for the intolerance of Diversity and Tolerance.

Moderates are called Conservatives. Moderates are usually Fiscal Conservatives who are Social Liberals.

Conservatives are called Extremists. That’s the nicest term that goes with the racist, homophobe, sexist, Taliban, wingnut, bigot, greedy, selfish, fundamentalists, Bible thumpers, etc.

I believe that my political labels are more accurate.

Islamists are the terrorist-supporting, 10 per cent of Muslims world wide (currently).

Islamic Civilization is barbarian compared to Western Civilization. Islam is about 800 years behind the West. The barbarian tribes who destroyed Rome in the West were about 600 years behind. The English who created Jamestown, Virginia were 1900 years or more ahead of the Indians.

Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) are campaigns in the long, long WW IV.

ACLU is the Anti-Christian Lawyers Union.

Judges are often Priest-Kings. Activist judges seek to usurp the powers of priests to define morality and kings to rule.

Sissy Christians are Liberal Christians who place their other Liberal political issues first, honor homosexuality above the Biblical Word, seek to surrender to the Muslims and hate Evangelical Christians more than the Devil – if they believed in Satan.

Social Security is socialism and a Ponzi scheme.

Hate laws and Hate speech are Thought Crimes.

The Winter Holiday season is the sacred season of CHRISTmas.

Affirmative action, protected classes of persons, diversity and multi-culturalism devolve into racism.

Micro-evolution is subject to rational empiricism.

Macro-evolution, as Darwinism, is theology.

Homosexual marriage isn’t marriage.

Partial-birth abortion is infanticide.

Undocumented workers are ILLEGAL immigrants.

Maybe I can expand this list in the future. Meanwhile, I solicit the help of my Libertarian buddies in local and national elections to vote Republican when the Republican is actually Conservative. The common ground for Conservatives and Libertarians is important. We both agree that the power to tax is the power to rule. Opportunity and freedom are twins. We believe in Constitutional Federal system of limited governments. We share a passion for individual liberties. Conservatives know our rights are endowed by our Creator God, the Judeo-Christian God. Some Libertarians don’t believe in the author of liberty. Makes the Libertarian label ironic indeed.

To: Reagan Man
My point was to let people know that outside of Manhatten Island, NYCity and specifically Long Island, Queens and Brooklyn were fairly conservative during the 50`s, 60`s and 70`s.

Okay, that makes sense. Eisenhower, Nixon, and Reagan picked up votes there. I was trying to explain why so many Northeasterners and Catholics are more ambivalent or conflicted about politics now and why some Reagan voters went back to the Democrats. I assumed it had to have a lot to do with history -- with Democrat parents or grandparents and traditional ties. I've met people in real life who had such family ties and found it hard to break with ethnic traditions.

That's probably not the whole story, of course, maybe not even the biggest part. Current issues, personalities, and attitudes are also important -- or else Alabama and Mississippi would feel the same tug from the Democrat past.

I've seen O'Reilly on television for over 20 years now and thought I had a pretty good handle on him. He was different from other anchors and commentators and seemed more like the "neighborhood guys" that I was familiar with in real life. After his sexual harassment scandal, though, I have to admit that I really don't know him after all.

I read that Private Media Group is releasing a parody of Bill O Reilly next month. It's gonna be called 'God's Will' and will be shameless ;)
