Worcester DA snags police files By Lisa Gentes and Kristen Bradley Thursday, January 5, 2006
Two weeks after Worcester County District Attorney John Conte said he was unlikely to pursue charges in connection with a crash that killed two Southborough sisters, the DA has for the first time requested all files related to a Northborough Police investigation.
The request followed a story that appeared in the Dec. 30 Daily News reporting the 17-year-old driver, Shauna Murphy, had been drinking before the crash, according to a source familiar with the case.
Northborough Police Chief Mark Leahy said yesterday that a representative from Contes office on Tuesday picked up a copy of the departments investigation into whether the girls had been drinking at a party in Northborough before the accident on Northboro Road in Southborough on Oct. 13.
On Dec. 20, Karen Foley, an administrator for Contes office, had told The Daily News that charges related to the one-car crash that killed Shauna Murphy and her 15-year-old sister, Meghan, are unlikely. Foley had also said Conte would not be releasing autopsy or toxicology reports, which would likely include results of blood-alcohol tests.
Northborough Police began investigating after learning that Shauna and Meghan Murphy may have been drinking at a house party hosted by a Northborough resident, a source close to the investigation has said.
"Its an outline of investigative actions that Northborough Police detectives took while investigating the movements of the girls prior to the accident," Leahy said.. "We did investigate whether alcohol was involved. We believed at some level it was."
Fridays Daily News article also reported Attorney General Thomas Reilly had a telephone conversation with Conte ... and advised the DA that the blood test results did not have to be made public.

Riley obstructed justice.
Oh yes, big time.
Keep in mind that there is a third victim still in rehab whose parents may want to know the truth about the crash and who supplied the booze. This is Obstruction of Justice by Reilly.
You can bet they have an attorney. The daughter will have huge medical bills and they are going to want someone to pay.
VB mentioned it one day last week when he was subbing for Howie Carr. Did he bring it up again this morning?
Here's a link to an earlier article which mentions the party:

John Depetro has been all over this on WRKO. I'm just hoping that this hurts Reilly, big time.
The main factors responsible for the crash are those who made maturity a state of being that is achieved at or around age 30 in this country - or never, in some cases. New drivers are dangerous at any age. In fact, I would greatly trust a 17-year-old's reflexes over a 40-year-old with the same driving experience (little or none, that is).
I believe they were speeding because they felt compelled to violate a nanny-state curfew imposed by MADD and other political rackets, this for what you and I take for granted: getting home. Such groups are smug with spite for the death of teenagers, as their self-fulfilling prophecy serves to consolidate power and influence.
