The Rev. Pat Robertson said Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is being punished by God for dividing the Land of Israel. Robertson, speaking on the “700 Club” on Thursday, suggested Sharon, who is currently in an induced coma, and former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, assassinated by an Israeli extremist in 1995, were being treated with enmity by God for dividing Israel. “He was dividing God’s land,” Robertson said. “And I would say, Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations or the United States of America. God says, This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.”
When will someone finally realize that Pat should be gently (or not so gently if necessary) forced into retirement? He's become an embarassment.

I wonder what the Jews will say when Pat suffers in the flesh. Stay tuned.

Long ago folks should have noted Pat Robertson on his show, closing his eyes and telling the audience "I sense God healing a cancer of the bowel in someone listening today, God is relieving someone's arthritis at this very moment ....etc." while asking the audience for money. You can't get any lower than telling folks they are being healed of incurable diseases so they will send you money. Either Robertson believes it and is a kook or he just wants the bucks. Robertson blends some intelligent conservative analysis with the lowest elements of televangelism.

Pat, Pat, Pat....there are times when it is a greater act of Christian charity to show be silent or tactful then to flap gums. Pat, you have all the sense, tact, and consideration of someone who shows up at the funeral of a friend's parent, and loudly announces that "they're burning in hell if they didn't repent." Pat, you have often talked long about your love for Israel. The greatest love you can show for that nation and its people is to say, "you are in our prayers" and nothing more.

Does the Bible support Pat Robertson deciding that the illnesses of famous people are specific retributions from God for the specific reasons Pat Robertson happens to believe? Highly doubtful. Maybe I think God was punishing Sharon for killing Palestinians in those camps, or for not building the wall high enough, or for not attacking Iran yet, or for offending his wife or children in some way. Does the Bible prove me right or wrong?
But especially to say something like that when he is on his deathbed. You can discuss his policies, and whether or not they were correct in due time. But now it's not. And yes, to suggest he is being "punished" by God because of it, is ludicrous.

This quote by Pat Robertson does not state that Sharon was struck with a stroke by God because he was seeking to divide Israel. Pat said that he believes God does not want the land divided. He did not say that Sharon was struck down because of it. Unless there is some other part of the quote that I am missing.
