"Delay" does not equate to 'running things'.

They are just sand in the gears right now.
That's all they have left.

"So why are they doing it then?"

Easy answer: Because they can.

Look at how they dragged out Bolton ... they eventually got lucky because one of dimbulb RINOs fell for their lies.

They will do all they can to drag this out even if confirmation is inevitable.

The obstructionist Dems are scrambling to figure something out because they know that the majority of the Senate clearly recognizes what a great nominee Alito is.

Senate rules leave lots of loopholes where the minority can get its way.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to change the rules once they are in place.

1) They want to claim they gave a fair hearing before nuking him

Or

2) They hope the extra week may turn something up before the vote they can use against him. Hey, it could happen.

Too bad the Republicans didn't know that.

If we can get one liberal or moderate to retire on the court and replace it with a conservative, the court will FINALLY, after decades and decades, be conservative again.

We just need one more vote. Alito will help, but will not give us a majority alone.

I thought the Republicans had a majority. Why are the Democrats running things?

Terrorists always take the initiative.

What we need is a Hellboy to clobber the bums.....

If the leadership is too weak or ignorant to know the rules so much that they dream about them in their sleep, they are not doing their jobs.

I agree. I'm hoping for a retirement from the left side of the bench.

President Bush still has three more years to leave his imprint in the SCOTUS

IOW, either the GOP was too weak or too stupid to know how to work the system when they were the minority.

You can't really blame the Democrats for delaying, if they can get away with it. The question is, why do we let them get away with it?

There's no way that the Republicans would have pulled this kind of thing off when they were in the minority. But the Democrats have done so repeatedly.

It's as if we're fighting a war, but only one side knows it.

It's about time that Frist stood up and let the rats know who is in control of the senate.
I'm sick and tired of him letting these scumbags run the show when they are not elected to do so!!
