TEHRAN: Cuban President Fidel Castro backed Iran's "right" to pursue a peaceful nuclear energy program following a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"Iran, or any other country, has the right to produce atomic energy for peaceful means and to have access to modern technology for this purpose," Castro.

The Iranian leader had thanked Castro for his support during their telephone conversation.

On Thursday, Ahmadinejad -- talking to an audience in Qom -- said Iran would not bow to Western "bullies" which already have nuclear arsenals.

Castro and Ahmadeadjihad have much in common. They're not expected to live much longer.

"would not bow to Western "bullies" which already have nuclear arsenals."

I read that as Castro saying we and our "western bully" friends in Europe already have nukes.

Somebody tell me why we won't take out Castro, and liberate Cuba?

It would be a fly swat.

Oh, sure. It's not like Iran has oil for power generation. They need nuclear plants!
