Clearly, the rabid lunatics are in charge in Iran...
If Iran is to survive their own Holocaust -- the Iranian people must force a regime change....

The current regime has left no doubt they wish a confrontation with America - and when it comes to that - I prefer that THEY do the dying....

A sad and dangerous situation, with a bloodless solution becoming more impossible each day.....

I think the main issue with the reports is, if Iran has had nukes since 1991, why haven't they used them? I suppose Peters can say because they needed time to plant them in the U.S., thereby not necessitating any other delivery system. I suppose this can also account for leader rhetoric, namely their nukes are now in place in the U.S. But I still find all of this hard to believe. On the other hand, Peters on troop movements is important info.

Unfortunately, "Alan Peters" is mixing facts and educated estimates with other type of information, such as this

Back in 1991/1992 three nuclear weapon devices the Mullahs had obtained from Kazakhstan were verified on ground in Iran and intelligence further estimates that Iran has totally between eight to 12 nuclear devices from the Soviet era.

I have not seen anything on this in any verified report. Sure, you can say that I have not read all reports and that is true. However, this is information of such dignity that if it is true would have changed the behavior not only of the Iranian government but as well of other governments.

I am sorry to say that the credibility of the messenger is reduced, and similar to Chalabi, Ali, Zakeri and the like.

Concurrently, Iran has suddenly moved a significant number of tanks toward its southern border near Basra, Iraq; has started repositioning naval assets and intercepts show military communications have become very atypical.

If these reports are accurate, it is very disturbing. One typically doesn't position tanks forward if the objective is defensive, but rather offensive. A limited ground strike into S. Iraq is a retalitory option that concerns me, primarly since mostly non-US forces are stationed there (primarly the Brits).

I would like to address the issue of the credibility of Mr. Peters.

Your initial comment was a dismissive ad hominem attack. I prefer to deal with argument.

Your second comment argues that since you haven't seen such a report, it lacks credibility.

Let me remind you of Mr. Peters background:

The name “Alan Peters” is a nom de plume for a writer who was for many years involved in intelligence and security matters in Iran. He had significant access inside Iran at high levels during the rule of the Shah, until early 1979.

As I mentioned earlier, his report is consistent with reports that many Iran experts have received. They applauded the report.

Finally, regarding your argument that the Iranian government or western governments would have behaved differently if in fact Iran has nuclear weapons assumes you know how they would react.

The timid response of the west to Iran might well prove his case.

The Brits have the capability of destroying Tehran in less than 10 minutes, and would probably do so if their troops came under attack from Iran.

That they have the capabilty, I agree. Do they have the moral fiber to do so in 10 minutes? Secondly, a multi-national force is a soft target for tactical reasons. While they may have gotten their coordination and operations honed for a counter-insurgency, low intensity conflict having to switch over to a high intensity battle while maintaining the command and control structure is problematical. That is why if Iran launches a ground attack into Iraq, it would most likely be in the south.
