CIA cracks down on leaks
Herald Sun ^ | 9 January 2006

CIA director Porter Goss is redoubling efforts to prevent agents from divulging the spy agency's secrets to the media, and also plans to clamp down on former spies publishing books about their covert careers, Time magazine has reported.

Citing an anonymous former senior Central Intelligence Agency official, Time, in a report to hit newsstands this week, said on its website that CIA officials told employees during a meeting last week that leaking had gotten out of control and needed to stop.

The reported added that a new clampdown on leakers had been launched, supported by a team of "mostly retired" agents contracted to scan the news media for possible leaks of classified material and to try to find the leakers responsible.

The internal crackdown follows recent media reports about the CIA's secret prison network for terror suspects and last month's disclosure in The New York Times that US President George W Bush authorised the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on the telephone calls of some Americans without court warrants.

The report said Goss also is worried about the potential impact of the leaks and insider books on the agency's security and clandestine operations.

"You don't want people who sit down with an (intelligence) officer in confidence to be concerned it will end up in the guy's memoirs in a year or two," one anonymous intelligence official told Time.

It's real simple. You find a leaker, you indict him, prosecute him, and send him to jail. It will stop in no time.

CIA leakers to be installed in individual suites in the Yuri I. Nosenko Hotel--Check in anytime you like but you can never leave.

This is war; leaking is treason; detention for the duration is just the start.

Wire these maggots up and let's watch them dance.

There are several openings in the CIA for wet work. These traitors should be dealt with accordingly.

Someone at the CIA who is leaking may need to "dissapear" to be a lesson to everyone else. Sound harsh? It is our very survival we are talking about. The world is just as dangerous now as it was 20 years ago.

Anyone else find it amusing that the word of this "Crackdown on leaks" seems to be from leak itself?

There are also times when the government "leaks" to give misinformation to our enemies.

Of course, the Dems would say: "You lied!"

The Dems have a wierd concept of intelligence in regard to National Security.

Rockefeller's memo pretty much says it all.

Secrecy is the highest requirement of intelligence during war. It's why we have the President as Commander in Chief. It grew out of the conflicts of waging war under the Articles of Confederation.

I have my dad's letters to home from WWII....all censored with that big black marker. The information was likely "unconnectable" to him but in the greater scope of "war information", someone felt differently.

I wish the Dems would adopt some wisdom.

And not only charged as such ...

Charged and face the revealing classified information to the enemy would have meant the firing squad

Goss has been cleaning house...thus the leaks probably from disgruntled jerks who think they and they alone run the world. More than likely they are Clinton folks.

Today I called the Director's office and told the kind woman we had heard on the news last night that Director Goss is getting tough on the leakers. We said this was immensely important as the leaks jeopardize national securtiy in time of war. We explained we have always been admirers of the director and we wish him Godspeed and Good Hunting. She was genuinely appreciative of the words of support.

I for one am ready for any number of traitors to wind up in bathtubs at the Breezeway Motel sucking shotguns in atonement for decades of treason.

As a kinder gentler alternative they may be confined to the Yuri I. Nosenko Shock & Ow! Centre for the duration.

You are always good about calling and writing letters to get people 'moving' on things. Good for you!

What's the penalty on this sort of thing, life in federal prison?

In olden days firing squad revealing classified information to the enemy would have meant the firing squad In more recent times, the electric chair Ethel and Julius Rosenberg
