Among Sen. Teddy Kennedy's many complaints about Samuel Alito, the one that caught the attention of Republicans today was his assertion that Alito is a racist.
"In Alito's 15-years on the bench, Judge Alito has not written one single opinion on the merits in favor of a person of color who alleged race discrimination in the workplace."
Moments later, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R.-Ala.) took Kennedy to task, leaving the liberal Massachusetts senator shaking his head.
Sessions cited three cases in which Alito demonstrated that "all Americans receive equal protection of the laws, regardless of race."
Among them:
U.S. v. Kithcart: In this case, Alito said the Constitution doesn't allow police officers to racially profile black drivers. His opinion, citing a violation of the 4th Amendment, stated: "The mere fact that Kithcart is black and the perpetrators had been described as two black males is plainly insufficient. ... Officer Nelson could not justifiably arrest any African-American man who happened to drive by in any type of black sports car."
Brinson v. Vaughn: Alito ruled that the Constitution don't allow prosecutors to exclude black jurors. In his ruling, Alito granted the prisoner's habeas petition. He said the Constitution guarantees "that a state does not use peremptory challenges to remove any black juror because of his race. Thus, a prosecutor's decision to refrain from discrimination against some African-American jurors does not cure discrimination against others."
Zubi v. AT&T: Alito authored the lone dissent in which he called for an expansive view of civil rights laws. In this case, the plaintiff sued his employer for firing him on the basis of race. While the majority ruled against the plaintiff's claim based on the time it had taken him to bring his case, Alito rejected that argument. The Supreme Court later vindicated Alito's view in a unanimous decision.
I'll surely have nightmares after seeing that whale!
The people of Massachusetts should be ashamed for continually reelecting this disgraceful drunken idiot who used his wealth and connections to cover up a murder. But come to think of it, their other senator isn't any better.
Yep, those Massachusetts' types have a lot to answer for.
I can easily see the alcoholic brain of Kennedy slouching in this direction right out of the gate.
As someone said on the Howie Carr Show today about Teddy's new kiddie book: "Make Way for Drunklings."
Or a big-mouth snake...
Kennedy obviously doesn't know what he's going to say on the Senate floor and couldn't care less whether it's the truth or a lie.
And the people who write his drivel don't either. They're just phoning it in, too.
I'd be ashamed to admit it if I voted for him...
No, I'm not European. And yes, I do agree that I mostly feel as if I am much more (excuse me, I'm about to use a word I loathe) entitled to be here than whores like Hillary Lenin, Tom Daschle, Edward Kennedy, John Kerry, Paul Wellstone (who mercifully returned to his creator), etc..
I decline your assessment. We are all of us democratic in our inclinations. Those freaks need to call themselves Democraps or Dummycrats or something else. Calling themselves Democratic makes us, per force, not that - which would leave us - oh, I don't know - monarchic, autocratic, oligarchic, etc.. They want the high holy ground on everything, they don't ever have it, and we will most certainly never concede it.
I don't care much for Ted Kennedy nor am I confident in that Alito is a racist, from what I know about him, he is a very dangerous person to have on the Supreme Court. Besides his stance on legalized abortion, "Strip Search Sammy" doesn't seem to understand the part of the law that talks about warrants, specifically the difference between warrants and affidavits.
I'm not sure who here is familiar with the case Doe v. Groody, in which Alito sided with cops who strip searched the wife and 12 year old daughter of an alleged meth dealer, saying the affidavit gave probable cause to search the two females. Obviously it did not, since the actual warrant only said the dealer could be searched. It's cases such as this that show "Strip Search Sammy" isn't as knowledgeable about the law (especially something as important and often-used as the issuing of warrants) as a Supreme Court judge should be (then again, what does SCOTUS know about the law? They said Emiment Domain was A-OK). Like I said, I don't know if he's a racist or not, but he apparently thinks that cops should be given room for creativity when it comes to searching, seizing, and arresting. Frankly, that's a dangerous power for anyone to have, more dangerous than any drug dealer or criminal.
He also, from what I understand, favors expanding the powers of the President. As if the President didn't have enough powers, what with getting away with illegal spying and all. But whatever the case, it's too much power for any President to wield, whether that President's name is Bush, Kerry, or Clinton.
They wouldn't trade citizenships with those eunuchs. They just flap their gums about how fabulous it is over there. Don't hold your breath waiting for them to rid your country of their grottesque existences here.
Alito should assert that Kennedy is a drunken murderer.
Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) (R) and Ranking Democratic Member Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) attend U.S. Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito's Senate confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington January 9, 2006. The hearings promise to be bruising on U.S. President George W. Bush's nomination of Alito to the Supreme Court. Barring an unforeseen bombshell, the 55-year-old conservative was expected to be confirmed by the full Republican-led Senate later this month, and possibly move the nation's highest court to the right on social issues. can I assert that ted is a misogynist since he killed MJK?
Please Freepmail the picture of Laurel and Hardy (Kerry / Kennedy) to me if you can!
Did the case make it to the Supreme Court while O'Connor or Darth Vader Ginsberg (or is it burg ? -- I always forget!) were on the SCOTUS?
If so, how did they vote, being women, and Darth (ACLU-type) wanting to lower the age of consent to 12...?
Cheers!
Kennedy will get the morning MSM headlines whether his accusations are true or not.
The refutations will be ignored or buried on a back page.
Tell the big lie long enough and loud enough and people will begin to believe it.
