Well, here, the arctic air mass simply has not made its way into Minnesota. No snow to speak of. It's supposed to rain an inch on Friday here. Feh!

The ice on the lakes near the city is too thin to go ice fishing with any safety. Some flower bulbs I planted this Fall are starting to send up shoots. My poor snowblower is pining away in the garage.

Wierd.

In that case the ocean levels will fall by 500 feet on an average.

This is obviously a plan by GW Bush to expand the boarder of the United States into what are now international waters. We need a UN resolution to stop this before it's too late.

"It is 20 below right now, in case you wondered where your weather has gone to."

Whoa! It's 70.2 here in Mobile.

Of course we will survive anything the climate throughs at us.
For one thing, it will occur gradually.
If we can survive in space we can survive on an icy planet.

11,000 year timeframe, and they narrow it down to the next 7?

India Daily is a garbage kook source that has had articles about secret underground UFO bases in New Jersey.

They're also apparently based in New Jersey, not India.

Their science articles are basically fabricated. Wake me up when they quote an ACTUAL NAMED scientist of any kind.

When Pinatubo exploded we got ten feet of snow that winter. That was extraordinary since we normally get a foot or two all winter, but it prompted sales of a lot of plow blades for pickup trucks and also snowblowers, all of which now sit in garages and yards. Once in a while the neighbor will fire up his pickup truck and run the blade up and down his driveway, but for the amount of snow he picks up it seems to be a ritual rather than anything actually useful. DOT runs their snow trucks for an inch of snow, which is okay since they invested heavily in the euqipment and are budgeted for manpower for snow removal anyway, but there hasn't been any actual need for snow removal for years.

But I don't think it's the end of the world.

That's on another thread.

The temp now in Houston is 57. Thursday's high is supposed to be 74.

105,000 figures are very general and could have a 500-1,000 year error margin either way.

Physics being what it is I would think that a cycle based on planetary movement would be quite accurate.

Some Geologists believe that global warming is causing the freeze because of manipulation of warm ocean currents and stream

I heard about the theory, but isn't it the perfect political hedge? I mean, whether it gets cold or warm, blame it on emissions...

Climate being what it is, there often are lags for varying reasons. Plus the solar output isn't constant either, and that can affect the onset of cycles - the Little Ice Age was marked by hardly any observed sunspots during that time.
