91,700 abortions in (NYC)city [40 out of 100 pregnancies ended in a planned abortion]
NY DAILY NEWS ^ | January 15, 2006 | BY PAUL H.B. SHIN

For every 100 babies born in New York City, women had 74 abortions in 2004, according to newly released figures that reaffirm the city as the abortion capital of the country. And abortions for out-of-town women performed in the city increased from 57 to 70 out of every 1,000 between 1996 and 2004, a subtle yet noticeable trend that experts say may reflect growing hurdles against the procedure in more conservative parts of the country.

The new Vital Statistics report released by the city Department of Health this month shows there were 124,100 live births, 11,700 spontaneous abortions and 91,700 induced abortions in the city in 2004. That means 40 out of 100 pregnancies in the city ended in a planned abortion - almost double the national average of 24 of 100 pregnancies in 2002, estimated by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a Manhattan-based nonprofit group that researches reproductive health issues.

Oh, nevermind. Reading the rest of your posts, it is quite clear that you want to be fooled. No use arguing with somebody who wants to be wrong.

Those people have no inner spark, no soul.

Certainly no 'divine spark'!

Just because the closest clinic may be hours away, doesn't make it "hard."

True, in retrospect, the killing of a baby should be a lot harder. I was just saying that it depends on what you believe is hard. At least it isn't as easy in MI and ND as it is in NY

No, I don't. I do not believe that the women are coming from out of state to get an abortion. I do believe the come from out of town because it will remain more anonymous. That isn't because it is harder to get one in smaller towns, it is because someone may find out about it easier in a small town. That is much different reason than not being able to get one because of the laws making it difficult. And very different from trying to scare unimformed readers of what may happen if Alito is confirmed.

In 1973, I was 3, and by reading your posts we don't really have anything in common.

This seems to be an inappropriate analogy [IMHO] for the following reasons:

1. The cat's protection of her kittens that were already born is different than the abortion of a fetus.
2. Humans have been endowed with free will to make choices.Conversely, animals have been preprogrammed to do certain things to sustain their species.

Weren't liberals supposed to make abortions legal and rare?

Of course, pro-abortion candidates claim that abortions when up under President Bush.

For the middle and upper-middle class it doesn't matter - most major medical insurers will pay for it.

I was quite disgusted, but not at all surprised, to learn that my own insurance would pay 100% for an elective abortion - yet a common hormonal contraceptive costs me $20/month copay plus about $250/year in premiums towards prescription drug coverage (to be fair, the premiums cover both me and my husband).

Of course this doesn't work for high schoolers or college students still on their parents' insurance, because then Mom and Dad would see the insurance statements. Abortion is covered by insurers for those women who should know better - women who are educated, who work, and who ought to know that if they're having sex at a time in life where children are not wanted, they need to use contraception.

Your story is moving. Tell it to as many people as you can.

Have you considered a video or book? I am sure that there are many Christian organizations that would be willing defray the costs and help distribute it.

Read the post again. It is not me.
I am a father who wanted his girlfriend of three months to have an abortion because we were not ready. Thank the lord above she was smarter than I. I now have two beautiful children with her. Me and the mother are no longer together but the love I feel for both my children are far greater than the fear I had. Now I am totally against abortions once I saw that what I thought was a mass of cells ended up being Zaine and Kendra who carry my last name. God save the children!

20% increase still adds up to less than 2%. Furthermore, there is no evidence that they came from "red states," nor has there been any change in the abortion laws that would have supposedly encouraged the out-of-towners (if you accept NARAL logic). It's very possible that there are simply more people from Jersey or other nearby places who have relatives in NYC or are collecting welfare there, and have their abortions in NYC, since the general rate of abortions as a whole is rising.

Nice try.

Well...just keep supporting sex in movies, shows like 'Sex in the City' and 'Housewives'--- Everyone who supports these shows are promoting promiscuity and re: abortion.

God Almighty...

Speaking of god. I sometimes wonder if the people who have abortions believe in God. Some do, my sister has had an abortion. She believes that when she dies, her soul will go to heaven. I haven't asked her but I wonder when she believes she obtained her soul. If you obtain a soul before birth then aren't you sending that little child to heaven before it's time? I doubt people would believe you only get a soul after you leave the birth canal.

Exactly. I remember the big billboards advertising the abortion flights to NYC from different places in the U.S.
