Oh great... this is worse than Planned Parenthood's mother's day cards.

last year there was a concern about the family losing money because the plants were coming up from Mexico.

Some invasions from Mexico might be a GOOD thing! ;o)

A nursery near here used to sell a lovely poinsettia that was several plants in a hangar basket that had holes in the side and there were branches coming out the holes. It was HUGH and just gorgeous. He also sold a variety one year called Freedom that was a deep red, almost burgundy!

Paul Ecke, the heir to the three-generation poinsettia empire, said of his siblings' upbringing as political abortion activists, "As children, we licked a lot of envelopes, we made a lot of phone calls, we walked door-to-door to encourage people to vote.” Among those causes, he said was promoting Planned Parenthood. >>> this is sad, his parents involving the whole family in the culture of death. 87 posted on 11/10/2006 5:04:46 PM EST by Coleus

I am struggling to try to imagine something more banal and diabolical. The whole family dedicated to this as a cause? Obviously something went VERY wrong somewhere. Christmas poinsettias for abortion? What will they think of next?

Several years ago, we bought potted "silk flowers" that look so life-like as to defy belief. You store them under plastic and take them out each Christmas. That is how I'd handle this. Most large hobby stores carry them by the thousands.

ell, because this company's products end up in many churches across the nation, this would be an ideal, IDEAL, opportunity for an effective boycott.

It's also highly stupid of the company, from a business perspective...what were they thinking??

Catholics may not use fake flowers on the altar. I imagine we could do something pretty with red and white carnations against greenery, or maybe with holly.

I guess that we have to be careful where our money goes ?

I'm boycotting so many products and companies I'm not sure what to do with all of my money. ;o)

Maybe I'll start a business catered to conservatives.
Hmmmm...

" Maybe I'll start a business catered to conservatives. "

Then you will make so much money that you will have a big tax problem !

Seriously, it would be nice to have a conservative consumer website.

Any links ? or should we start one ?

Poinsettias grow naturally in Mexico. It is not like California is sole source.

It would be nice if Walmart, etc. would carry Poinsettias from non Planned Parenthood Donors.

There could be a label saying something like : " No babies were killed by the producers of this item. "

and they, the Mexicans, have the capacity and a system to grow, sell and transport millions of poinsettia plants to the USA for Christmas? It they did, they would.

Maybe. And, maybe they don't want us to have poinsettias.

I got an email back from them, saying this:

"Thank you for contacting us. In response to your comment below, the Paul Ecke Ranch does not fund or contribute to any organization such as you describe (pro abortion). In fact, contributions by the Ecke Ranch are generally limited to organizations that support research, development and promotion of flowers, or our floriculture industry in general. Examples include: The Society of American Florists and Ohio Florist Association. We hope this provides more clarity to your question."

They could be lying of course.

It appears that they are only talking about corporate donations, and not about the Ecke family's donations.

Yes you are right...they are covering for the family. They can't even admit to what they do. Well.. emails help because it focuses attention on their perversity.
