JOHN MCCAIN is NOT FIT TO LEAD THIS NATION.
FreeRepublic ^ | 1/17/06 | Jake The Goose

Posted on 01/17/2006 6:36:33 AM PST by lowbridge

My John McCain (up close and personal) story, from the 2000 South Carolina Primary.

Greenville SC - the 2000 Presidential primary - John McCain had just beaten ‘W’ in the NH primary and the “Straight Talk Express” rolled into South Carolina.

I was a McCain supporter - positive that he was the real deal.

I drove to a McCain speech and public appearance. It was a day I will never forget as long as I live.

That day I witnessed John McCain behave unlike any appearance I had ever seen on TV - the man was unhinged.

After a 15 minute canned speech - he decided to address his competition in the primary - George W. Bush. He did so by beginning with, “I am Luke Skywalker, and my opponents are members of the Empire. Together we will form the rebellion and defeat Darth Vadar”. He yelled this - first pumping - his voice full of anger - his face - beet red - and his eyes - well - they were scary.

The crowd instantly went from supportive - to bewildered.

He obviously didn’t pick up on the mood change - because he went on for another 5 minutes - ranting and raving about how everyone was lying about his record - his views - and he, “wasn’t going to take it any more” (remember the movie Network).

It was surreal.

When he finished - and with the prodding of an aid - he left the stage, while we in the crowd just stood there - stunned - and honestly - completely confused.

I asked a woman next to me: “what the hell just happened?” She answered: “that man is freaking nuts!”

I came home - walked in the house - sat on the couch and just looked at the wall. I suddenly realized - the man pushed on television - was not the man at all.

I have told this story many times - to many people - and I have heard the same story told back to me by others who have seen similar John McCain episodes.

I am not given to criticize anyone lightly ladies and gentlemen.

I am sure John McCain is a good man - but listen to me - and please believe me.

JOHN MCCAIN is NOT FIT TO LEAD THIS NATION.

John McCain is unstable. John McCain is freaking nuts!

That was obvious with his recent "Al Queda bill of rights" legislation, the campaign finance reform bill, support for unconstitutional fillibuster of judicial nominees and many other RINO ventures he has taken on.

As Rush is always reminding everyone, McCain himself admits that the LameStreamMedia is his primary constituency; only, they don't vote in Republican primaries.

I used to turn on C-SPAN "Road to the White House" in the morning while I got ready for work. I remember the media going gha-gha over the 'Straight Talk Express' and how it was like being invited to sit next to God if you could get on his bus.

But when he stopped for Q&A I noticed he never gave a stright answer to anything. he just spoke with "We can do better" and "We must change the culture" ambiguities like the liberals do.

It was way back in 2000 and one incident that completely turned me off to him was a response to immigration and the lack of security on our Southern Border. He side stepped the question and talked about finance reform. I never listened to him again.

Don't worry he is a loser and on top of that he is ugly...
Come on, everyone knows that a conventionally attractive and pretty face will always win the presidency.

Arizonians know this all to well. They learned their lesson a long time ago. Don't elect a war veteran to public office, you can never get rid of them. Who ever votes against a war veteran for reelection?

I agree, there is definitely an air of mental instability around that guy. If somehow he would become the nominee, I really don't think I could vote for him, because I think he would be a terrible President, maybe even worse than the Democrat. Unless it's Hillary. Fortunately, I won't have to worry about that, as McCain cannot win the GOP nomination... too many Republicans hate him. The President can't be too fond of him for all the times he's stabbed him in the back, I doubt he'd sit by idly and let McCain get the nomination.

My opinion was forever forged, when I watched the documentary of the U.S.S. Forrestal incident. My view was formed not because he ( McCain) set off the incident either by mistake or mechanical failure.

I saw his true character by his actions. He evacuated his aircraft and went to sick by, no problem with that. However; while young men continued to fight to save the ship,BAREFOOT, in thier BOXERS only,Being BLOWN OVERBOARD, McCain remained below decks in a nomex flight suit shaking hands of the injured.

When the chips were down and quick action and sacrifice was needed to save the ship......he was glad handing and campaigning. The video doesn't lie and that man doesn't have the intestinal core to lead this country.

As I have stated before ... I will enjoy McCain in the coming primaries, as I did in the 2000 run.

The alphabet media and Dems will fawn all over him, while the rest will be laying the "Captain Queeg" trap that he will, undoubtably, fall into.

McCain has flipped more times than a pancake. Looking around at the caliber of politicians in the running on both sides, is like looking at the fall of Rome when Senators roamed through the streets begging anyone to be Caesar and being refused.

By geometric logic, of course.

I hate McCain. He is a RINO. That said, he is a RINO largely because he likes media attention, not out of liberal tendancies, such as with Specter, who is a real liberal. Left to his own, McCain would move right.

He seems very electible.

And, if given the danger of a PIAPS presidency, I'd want to make sure we'd have someone slightly-right of center than Ms "we'll take you property from you for your own good" left-of-Lenin PIAPS

That is funny and sad at the same time. I know exactly how you feel. Where is our next Republican President? Where is our front runner? Time is getting short and nobody seems to be emerging. Hopefully someone will appear on the stage within the next 9 months. But right now he/she is nowhere to be seen.

He's already violated the oath he swore as a military officer and a congressman by pushing through a piece of legislation that effectively stops political speech.

The media "plan" is to help McCain get the nomination, then destroy him with "suddenly discovered" problems. IMHO his malignant melanoma, which is never discussed, will become the main issue. And his age, his temper, his mistaken calls for more troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, etc. All designed for Hilary to win.

On the other hand, I'm struggling with the question of who is.

I think there are lots of people - business leaders, military men, local pols, etc. who have the natural leadership ability, the smarts, and the determination to be great Presidents. The problem is that these people have no stomach to endure the years-long media-inflicted rectal exam during the campaign.

Unfortunately, the people who *are* willing to put up with the BS are often sociopathic narciccists like McCain, Xlinton(s), Gore, Kerry, etc.

I think you hit the "mother vein there."

If he had swallowed his anger and had been more of a team player over the past two decades he could be President. The weird part is that I think he knows that and tries mightly to come across as even tempered, wise and moderate on the tube but his anger and viciousness pops through every now and then. Not often but just enough to make too many people very uncomfortable. He will never win the Republican nomination.

The Republican nominee will be as much of an unknown as the media can keep him. They will ignore him as much as possible. They will bury him. No Republican will get any traction---or any recognition unless he's in the vice president's seat.
I believe our only hope of winning in '08 is for the vice president to run. And if Dick Cheney won't, he should retire a year earlier and let someone else take full advantage of the position.
There should be another way, but given the current climate, the leftist media and the last two elections roughly 50-50, there isn't another way.

He would be great but he has to start mugging the camera more. Nobody knows who the hell he is. He should start taking lessons from John McCain and get more face time on the tube. I know that goes against his nature but he has got to do it if he wants the nomination. Get in front of the friggin' camera every single day. Get him on local, regional and national news every single day. If he cannot do it, he won't get the nomination.
