Yes, well Euthanasia is illegal and sometimes the Federal Govt has to step in when a state is doing something illegal and totally wrong.

Yes, lets give the leftists their own country, ruled by the almighty Supreme Ct, and see how long their population lasts!

How frightening, IF you make it out of the womb, and IF you don't stay healthy, and if you have dementia, you die. Can you imagine how guilty the old &infirm will feel to remain alive?

And don't forget your property can be stolen, and must speak in whispers about the 10 commandments and Jesus, wow, I could go on, and on, and on.

This ruling will set the stage for the euthanizing of the baby boomer's once they become to big of a burden on their families.

To listen to the Gen X/Ys on this site we are already a burden. Just this last weekend someone hoped we'd hurry up and croak.

I think it is a positive for the 10th amendment aspects.

Looks like the liberal court is saying since we are losing our power our court should not have stake or issue here so it is the states rights.

"Before you know it suicides, assisted suicides will be happening more and no one will do anything about it! "
Suicide already is a statistically significant cause of death among the elderly. And not much could be done about it, beyond making it more comfortable for the suicides. Their lives belong to them, to dispose of as they see fit.

How did that happen when there are only 8 members currently sitting on the Supreme Court?

LOL. Obviously, there are 9. O'Connor is still on the bench.

Decision is 6-3, so her vote (indeed, no vote) is the swing vote.

I guess it's ok now for relatives to take out million dollar insurance policies on their inconvenient sickly relatives and collect the money once they have had them put down.

I'd respect Kennedy if he was consistent on a states rights issue but he is not.

Kennedy is terrible at differing to the states.

Take the death penalty last year for minors. He didn't defer to the states and instead cited international law.

Take the Texas Sodomy law where he didn't defer to texas.

Kennedy rules based on his liberal beleifs.

O'Conner is terrible on social issues but on other issues she would take a more consistent conservative viewpoint.

To hear liberals talk about how far the court will move to the right is total nonsense.

Breyer,Stevens,Souter,Kennedy,Ginsberg will still form the majority opinion in most controversial cases.

Stevens who ford loves is quite clever in always giving the majority opinion to kennedy or o'conner.

This court will still be a disaster when alito gets on.

Kennedy is like O'Connor in that regard. No consistency. He is all over the place. He is a disgrace as a supreme court justice. He has no consistent legal philosophy.

Recently he has always sided with the breyer and souter wing.

For those that thought roberts would bring Kennedy over are wrong. Kennedy is a stealth liberal.

Kennedy right now is the most powerful person in this country by far. He will decide so many supreme court cases and a lot of them the conservative side will lose.

The culture of death wins again, now the gov has a precedent to solve the social security crisis.

Eugenics making a comeback

No, their lives belong to God, not themselves. I watched my grandfather die naturally in Hospice care in September and the man never gave into suicide, not once, cause he was no coward. He lived and died a hero IMO!

That's kind of a leap. Relatives can't put someone down. It has to be the wish of a terminally ill person.

I am stunned the courts allowed euthanasia. God help us, because it's obvious we need more Godly judges.

See Halls at 91. You also seem unfamiliar with the Terri Schindler case, and a number of others of similar murderous result.

This ruling will set the stage for the euthanizing of the baby boomer's once they become to big of a burden on their families.

That stage is already, and better (IMO) set with the statutory model language of living wills, in combination with court-provided construction of that language.

State issue, I am uncomfortable with the feds being involved with everything. I believe abortion should be a state issue also.

Where states used to be individuals, we are all one big homogenous fed state now.

The voters of Oregon should change this if they want.
