Ohios Republican gubernatorial front-runner Ken Blackwell is Jesse Jacksons worst nightmare.
Ken Blackwell has just finished regaling a group of Ohio retailers with his vision of how to turn around the states struggling economy with a heavy dose of fiscal restraint and tax cuts. The crowd, accustomed to Republicans who tax and spend as furiously as Democrats, is rapt. But as Blackwell works the room afterward, on a warm fall afternoon in Columbus, one well-dressed woman stops him to outline her concerns. I like your ideas on taxes, she tells the former college football star, who at 6 foot 5 towers over her imposingly, but I dont like your other ideas so muchmeaning Blackwells strong pro-life positions and support of a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. I am not just an economic being, Blackwell unapologetically replies. I have a wider set of beliefs that I follow. And then, before the woman moves away, Blackwell adds: With me, youll always know what you are getting. Youll always know where I stand.

I tried fiscal restraints, good transortation, and TAX CUTS in SimCity.
Made lots of money, had a successful city.
Blackwell ping!
I have voted for him and plan to again. The Ohio moderate republican machine hates Blackwell. If he sticks to the Reagan conbstruct he will win.
Sim City freaks me out - I is my entire career, in a pop-top can.
This guy sounds almost too good to be true. He should have a food taster and a bodyguard. (We need to take care of this guy.)
Works good in a roman empire game too. ( You can't end that game until you really rax them, which I do as the last move)
Blackwell is a good man and he will get my vote.
Don't be ridiculous, Robert. Fiscal restraint. What the hell is that?
:)
He sounds good to me. Now, what is Lynn Swan in PA all about?
GO KEN GO!!
God I hope I get to vote for him in Nov.
Great article. BTTT.
We need ten more like him.
If Blackwell has been Governor for one term already, he's be the front runner for '08.
I am thoroughly convinced that this state needs him badly, and that he will be exactly what he says he will be.
Ken Blackwell will be Ohio's next Governor!
If he checks out to be so, I'll be right there chantin: "I like it... I love it... I want some more of it!!!"
...who happens to be black! It would have been good to have that in your post. I had no idea.
This is exciting to me. Conservatism is not a matter of skin color. This represents another nail in the Democrat coffin, the fast-approaching end to their voting blocs which they have taken for granted for so many years.
Conservatism is only a matter of skin color if you're in the House of Representatives, otherwise known as "The Plantation."
:) HA!
In seriousness, it's a good point.
Make it hurt, drill sergeant, make it hurt. Make it hurt drill sergeant, make it hurt.
Used to have to say that in basic. :)
