Clinton administration quashed fraud case against Cisneros (Barrett Report on Barry Finkelstein)

Excerpts -

WASHINGTON _ A special prosecutor's long-delayed report charges that a coverup at senior levels of the Clinton administration killed a tax fraud case against former Cabinet member Henry Cisneros, the New York Daily News has learned.

David Barrett's 11-year, $23 million probe, which will be released Thursday, states in stinging terms that the Clinton coverup succeeded.

Before Cisneros' 1999 guilty plea, Barrett's office began a second phase based in part on allegations in a 1997 memo to IRS headquarters by whistleblower John Filan, an IRS criminal investigations chief in Texas.

In a memo obtained by the Daily News, Filan accused top Clinton officials, including senior IRS lawyer Barry Finkelstein, of covering up Cisneros' tax fraud case by transferring it to two inexperienced lawyers in Washington.

Filan wrote that the two got orders "to kill the case from Barry Finkelstein at the outset."

Agreed. If we were the federal government a website that the legislators logged on to from their home districts and conducted business remotely, the work would get done faster and the cost would go down. DC is way to much fun for those free-lunch artists, IMHO.

If there is one piece of information that will bring down the Clintons, the Barrett Report is it. I'm in the process of drafting a letter to Sen. Chuck Grassley, who may be the one guy on the Hill who can get this out into the light of day.

Let's not let this issue slip away.

Everyone except for me seems to forget that the "culture of corruption" was first used against the Democrats.

Unfortunately, we've let them get away with pinning it on Republicans. Maybe what someone said above is true. Everyone becoems corrupt after about 4 years in DC.

So, can we impeach Clinton again?

A few days after his so-called wife insults the entire nation? Stay tuned...

I don't know how they do it but the clintons keep slipping the noose.

IMO it's the mafia connections that keep them out of reach... and why everyone seems so terrified to expose them. Heck... the death list that surrounded those two is amazing. What else could it be?

I am not a RINO Tonkin, I just keep praying that they will finally have some of their crimes catch up with them.

As I recall, if found guilty by the Senate, an impeached Prez can only be booted from office. Regular civil action can follow, but the punishment from a Senate conviction is limited to expulsion. But I can dream and would still love to see that criminal put away.

Is there a contradiction here? Or is it a non sequitur?

Many legal eagles told me that you can't impeach a former prez, only a sitting one. Therefore, we'd need an amendment anyway, I suppose, to impeach Clinton. The advantage of a Clinton Amendment is we can add all kinds of reasonable clauses in it that ensure Bubba lands in prison, penniless, and/or hunted by navy seals if he tries to flee or hide. Reasonable as in, not naming him, but saying, "Any president who pardons... bla-bla-bla... making it tough to argue with such a reasonable punishment for such a terrible misuse of power.

Reporting the Report

Published 1/20/2006 12:09:31 AM

WASHINGTON -- There was some last-minute drama in Washington before yesterday's release of the long-awaited report by Independent Counsel David Barrett. Sources close to the three-judge panel overseeing the report say that the panel's members were furious about leaks to the press previewing the report's contents. The report, detailing an organized attempt by Clinton Administration officials to shut down an Internal Revenue Service investigation into possible tax violations by President Bill Clinton's secretary of housing and urban development Henry Cisneros, was to be released at 9:00 AM Thursday. The day before, late in the afternoon, word went out from the judges to the Independent Counsel's office that the release would be delayed.

Why can't he and Hillary be put in jail? They surely have enough on these two to warrant this.

The article states that it will be released tomorrow.???

Yes, and the "Clinton Administration" is sure to be hurt by this indictment. This occurred so long ago that most people today have forgotten who Cisnero's is or was. This has been buried and forgotten.

I have been out of contact with news and computers for almost a week. Did this get major play?
