Leahy, Salazar and Max Baucus of Montana who announced his opposition to Alito on Wednesday were three of the 22 Democrats who voted for Roberts' confirmation as the replacement for the late Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, a conservative.

This will be something close to a party-line vote. So far, the only Senator to announce a breaking of party lines is Ben Nelson of Nebraska.
Leaky Leahy? NO WAY! Really? /sarc
salazar said he would support a filibuster.
Salazar is a fraud.
Hmmmmm???
Leni
Source on Salazar's comments regarding a filibuster on Judge Alito?
where did salazar say he would filibuster or not. isnt he supposedly one of the "gang" ?
Hell no. In fact, when and if their anti-Alito count hits 41, they'll start agitating for a filibuster.
Not likely. Though any Red State Democrats who announce their support might get some press.
Figures. My resonable, moderate, weigh each issue junior senator is again following the party line. What a surprise. (salazar)
This is hugh and series!
Now Salazar and Baucus live in relatively conservative states so what do some of you Freepers think might be the backlash for this action? Or, will there not be one?
I kind of expect Nelson of Florida would vote for, but who knows.
Bill Nelson would support Sam Alito if he faced a better opponent.
Mark Pryor of Arkansas is another possible Alito supporter.
Baucus isn't up until '08. Salazar isn't up until 2010.
So there is no pressure on them at all -- from our side.
This goes to show that the moderate wing of the Rat party is mostly a myth.
Wait a minute, HOLD THE PRESSES!
I saw photos of these guys and I know Salazar when I see him. But the guy they are saying is Leahy is none other than The Joker from the Batman movies! Check it out! Look at the smile plastered on his puss, even when he is being serious!
I'm telling you, it's the Joker!
Agreed in general. The moderate wing of the Rats still exists, but keeps very quiet, except for Joe L.
How about this: Salazar voting "no" may be good news. I think this means Salazar knows that Alito is going to make it, so the no vote throws a bone to his left base, and the right base will not be too upset since Alito gets confirmed anyway. Salazar has lucked out here, if the vote was really close, he would be in a bind.
No, silly. That's not news. ;-)
salazar will do whatever schumer, kennedy, durbin want.
My real feelings are the dems will filibuster next nominee.
With Kennedy as the swing vote on the court there really is no reason to filibuster for them.
Stevens nominee would be the filibuster.
Salazar...man, I hope he's a one-termer. C'mon people of Colorado: please wake up and see his election as a BIG TIME mistake!
I heard it on the 5 minute top of the hour news spot repeatedly on KVOR radio Colorado Springs while listening to Hannity.
Sorry I took so long to reply... I had to do a post and run.
