The fan accused of harassing the wife of New York Knicks forward Antonio Davis will drop threats of a lawsuit if the couple says it's sorry, the man's attorney said Friday.

No way, Davis said.

"I'm not apologizing to anybody for anything," Davis said on a conference call. "I don't think that my wife did anything wrong, I don't think that I did anything wrong."

...

Axelrod's [the Fan's] father, David, is a prominent Democratic political consultant in Chicago who has worked with Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.

I don't know why people get into other peoples' faces and start yelling. I don't do that, I don't know what possesses other people to do that. In a civilized society, people don't do that.

But she did. And you wouldn't have called security, but I would have if I would have been him. I don't like people to get in my face and yell at me. I might not have called security right away--I probably would have told her to sit down and shut up, but if she didn't, sure--I'd call security. Just because you're a woman doesn't mean you get a free pass and go around acting like an ass.

Oh, I dunno, maybe a pompous 22-year old spoiled child of a corrupt Democrat cussing and being obnoxious around her children? In a civilized society, people don't do that. It is a public venue, you do NOT have a right to cuss up a storm, no matter how much you paid for your ticket. Act like a brat and a woman may treat you like a brat.

No, he probably shouldn't have been cursing, if he was. But, two wrongs don't make a right--and it's not like it's unexpected; I'm sure that she hears it ALL THE TIME. I hear it all the time when I go to a sporting event, and I don't even go all that often.

I walk down the street and I hear people cursing. Should they be cursing? No, it's rude--do I get in their face and yell at them? Don't do that either. At the office I hear secretaries cursing. Should they? No. Do I yell at them and stick my finger in their face? Nope, don't do that either.

The possibilities are endless. The likelihood is that the guy was using foul and/or bigoted language directed toward this lady's husband.

Ok, so?

Again, as if this isn't an every night occurrence in the NBA? Even if he was cursing and yelling at the players or her husband, that doesn't excuse her reaction. She was wrong.

What, hecklers in a basketball game? No...

I saw the video when it first came out but did not see her striking him in the face. She looked like she was giving him what-for though for some reason and that is what we don't know....what happened/what was said prior to the camera turning on them.

It is one thing to cuss around adults, and quite another to cuss around other people's kids. Plus you have no idea what he said, it could have been pretty vile. Whether cussing or vile talk is becoming common at games is irrelevant, it is still inexcusable, no matter how much you try to make excuses for it. Frankly I'm fed up with boorishness in public, and tell someone to pipe down whenever they start up with the cursing. Good for her for confronting him if that indeed was the case.

Well first of all, why did the woman get into his face and start yelling, sticking finger in face and hitting? There must be a reason. People don't do that without a reason.

Sounds like you don't get out in public much.

As I said before, two wrongs don't make a right. Whether you think it's boorish for people to curse in public, people do. That's just the way it is.

She did what she did and now she's getting sued. She can deal with the consequences.

Like I said, I don't remember; but he said that she hit him and given the Davis's initial version of the story and his initial version of the story and the video, he certainly seems to be the more credible of the lot. Moreover, offering to drop the suit in exchange for an apology also bolsters his credibility in my mind.

As you note, we don't know what happened before the camera was on him--my guess is that he was heckling the players, and I think he admitted as much when he was talking about things afterword. Like I said before, though, that doesn't excuse her reaction--she was out of line, and now she (and her husband) are paying the price.

As I remember it Antonio Davis was a real clean kid when he played at UTEP.

Where do they find these people?

In the Demo-crap party. Michael Axelrod's father, David, is a MAJOR player in Dem political campaigns.

But I sure would tell them how unprofessional that kind of behavior is and report it to their superior(s).

I can't wait to hear what she has to say about David Axelrod's kid's behavior. This is gonna get really good!

I don't mind Davis; I kind of like him, actually--I'm a Pacers fan going way back, but I just think they were wrong here.

But five games is about right, and it should have been about what Artest got last year too, in my opinion.

Again, as if this isn't an every night occurrence in the NBA?

If it is an every night occurrence, why did either of them cause this mess? Messes like this aren't an every night occurrenc in the NBA.

Something is obviously different and exceptional about this situation.

Calling a player the N word with some other unpleasant adjectives would not be "heckling", and doing so repeatedly after being asked to stop is not "heckling", and continuing to do it in front of the recipient's children and wife are not "heckling" either. We don't know exactly what he did, but we can be assured is wasn't simple, everyday heckling.

Heckling is indeed an everyday occurrence in the NBA, which is one of the reasons this is obviously not heckling - unless the woman is a mentally ill, violent freak... which she may be!

We can? How?

All we know is that she went ape. That's not normal behavior. We also know that the Davis's version of the story, is, at best, suspect.

I think the only reason most of you are jumping all over this guy is because his old man is a democratic fund-raiser. If he would have been a run of the mill fan, I imagine that the point of view of a lot of folks on here would be different.
