Now, you are both talking my language. Raptors are my favorite. Although I live in a huge urban area, there are lots of trees and other roosts -- such as tall buildings -- for hawks. I am good at spotting red tails, usually hanggliding the air currents, and always thrilled when I do.

And, as you say, GeeBee, there are times a mockingbird or raven will harass and chase off the hawk. What a hoot!

I was driving up a major road to my area one day when I spotted a red tail perched on the TV disk installed on top of a gas station while all the gas station pigeons were flying around. What is it about gas stations that attract pigeons?

I feel bad for the coopers and red tails that are constantly harrassed by crows, black birds and starlings. They aren't fast and have to rely on wind currents to get away from the screaming jeebies.

What really gets me tho is when a hawk is spotted by one crow who then takes after the hawk and his squawking brings all his comrades from around the area to join into the fray. Kinda reminds me of democrats..... LOL!
