The number of antisemitic articles published in the Ukrainian press increased by 74% from 2004 to 2005, according to a report by the secular Jewish umbrella group VAAD, cited in a January 23, 2006 article by the AEN news service. Antisemitic articles increased from 379 in 2004 to 661 last year and appeared in major publications like the Socialist Party press organ Silski Visti and more marginal papers like The Idealist. The report links the rise in antisemitic publishing with the sharp increase in antisemitic violence, most notably the attack on yeshiva student Mordechai Molozhenov, which left him in a coma from which he only recently emerged, and an attack on JTA's Ukraine correspondent Vladimir Matveev.
I'll stop mentioning David Duke when Yushchenko stops dealing with folks who defend anti-semitism, and shut down those who expose it.
I'm interested to see where Tymoshenko lands and how much of Yushchenko's policy's she opposes.
"I for one do not see anything wrong with a country trying to keep its own culture, and limit the influence of other alien cultures. "
I see your point, and I agree with you, but killing 20 million people to achieve that end is not the way to go.
That's true, but tens of millions of Ukrainians were killed by the Bolsheviks (and the Germans).
The greatest threat to a country like Ukraine is its neighbors, so I do not blame them for wanting to be Ukrainian.
