Code Pink Leader Has Tantrum at Walter Reed - 01/27/06
January 27, 2006

Posted on 01/27/2006 9:46:07 PM PST by tgslTakoma

There I was, across the street, a six lane street. Just me. And my little camera.

I stood quietly on the empty sidewalk taking pictures of the Code Pink protest at Walter Reed. The one that used to be at the main entrance to the hospital, until they forgot to renew their permit for that location.

Now, they've taken to infesting a location down the street, in front of a small sidewalk park, but still in front of the hospital.

I had gone down alone, with my camera and tripod to document their little public protest.

I had less than a minute's peace to take photos before Allison Yorra and Ann Wilcox of Code Pink came across and told me that I would have to leave the empty sidewalk, across the street from their protest, because they had a permit for where I was standing.

I told them I wasn't disrupting their protest across the street, and that I was holding no signs but simply taking photos. They told me that I was not allowed to be there, and that the police would remove me. I encouraged them to call the police, because I wasn't demonstrating in their protest area, just taking photos, in their protest area where they weren't protesting. They initially declined to call the police, preferring to "handle it themselves."

By now, "Princess", Weasel and some guy with a black beret had joined Allison and Ann around me. They began to block my camera, which was focused on their public protest across the street. No matter which way I turned, there was Allison and her bully-boys.

So I stepped off the sidewalk and into the curb lane of the street, where MPDC does not issue permits unless the road is closed. Allison and the bullies quickly followed. I'd move. They'd move in front of me. I'd move again. They'd again block my view.

Here are a few photos I took:

Allison Yorra - Code Pink

Allison and "Princess" who both love to call our president a fascist, as they freely protest at a military hospital and try to bully a lone photographer.

Weasel scurries across the street to join in the leftist fun and games.

Allison's good side

I got lots of photos like this. Y'know, for a woman whose organization loves to sneak into places like the Dem and Republican conventions, the John Bolton hearings, various Rumsfeld hearings and events to unfurl banners and disrupt the events for the fawning MSM cameras - she sure does seem to dislike this camera operator.

Allison has help from Black Beret Guy to stop me from taking photos of their public protest.

Black Beret Guy and Ann Wilcox of Code Pink.

Allison and "Princess" - Her profile is definitely NOT her good side.

Allison got really bent out of shape when the other camera folk came down to film their gang assault on me. In a fit of anger, Allison Yorra yelled at us, calling us a bunch of nobodies and that nobody reads our blogs.

I honestly don't think that they let that permit lapse on purpose. I think that it was a large oversight on their part. Then to add insult to the injury of having lost it to a Freeper is just the kiss of death. I think that they are pissed beyond words because they lost their permit and their rank and file numbers are falling.

Just like Rush says a Lib out of control is really funny to watch. This is givng many of us on FR incredible pleasure to have a ringside seat on the Code pinkos meltdown.

We had a taste of this when we had one of our rallies against Peace Fresno. A church decided to joined us from another little town. I don't mean a few memembers, I am talking the whole church, moms, dads, kids, grandma, grandpa, teens. We outnumbered Peace Fresno Peace by about 20 to 1. That evening was magical. The church brought their risers and their chorus sang God Bless America, and many other songs. They also set up a huge video screen with tapes of Bush speaking about the war on terror.

It took 2 days for my ear to stop hearing honking. Peace Frenso was shaking in their boots, they were literally terrified. After they left we took over all four corners. I don't think that we left until 8:30 that night.

Good grief those Pepto idiots are unhinged.

That picture would make a great sign for the next FReep.

They didn't lose it for stealing our sign off the fence on "their" corner, or for lying to the police when he was asking where the sign was. Lying during the investigation of a crime is also a crime. Of course if you talk to any Code Pinkos, since we got the sign back, no crime really took place!

Try to imagine a world where Code pink and other anti war groups were not faced with counter protests supporting the troops.

A world where only their voices reached the ears of our wounded, where those opinions were the only ones they heard.

Imagine the depression that would set in when they questioned their honor and country, and imagine the depths of despair Code Pink could drive them to...

It isn't hard to do, because it has happened before, and a whole generation of vets suffered because of it.

I assure you, beandog, I do plenty to further our cause besides sit at my computer.

Your story is compelling, and I appreciate it. I just feel a need to challenge fellow conservatives to think twice about devoting themselves to activity that, according to the conservatism of Richard Weaver, Edmund Burke, Russell Kirk, Ronald Reagan, and the like, may be detrimental to the cause and may even, in the long run, warp the person who engages in such behavior.

You say you're making a difference to the soldiers and I believe that. I would never doubt that for a moment. You say aggravating the Pinkos is just an added bonus . . . great! If that were your primary aim, and you were there week after week, trying to outlast a handful of wackos with no life, I'd be worried about you. That's all I'm saying.

I don't really enjoy coming on your thread and playing the gadfly. I just think someone has to keep our movement honest and true to its principles, and, as far as I'm concerned, conservatives ought to avoid 60s-leftist agitator street tactics just as much as they should avoid bullying tactics or distorting the truth to make a point, or lying in the cause of Truth, etc.

If that's not what you guys are about, great. If you find yourself getting addicted to FReeping and start wetting yourself every time you get a 10-second sound bite on C-SPAN or a "shout out" on a blog . . . reexamine your motivation.

(FWIW, I was reacting more to the "FREEPERS WIN!!" thread than to this one.)

WE look forward to it!

We'll try to bring some warm, Floriduh weather with us, but the forecast is mid-20s.

We'll bring some warm FRiendship and a hug or two (and our long johns!). Will that suffice?

The only people whose opinions I care about are our men & women at WR. The rest of your post reads like a load of bubblegum pop psych.

Maybe you could arrange for several people with cameras to arrive at specific intervals, maybe just in time to get pictures of them harassing the previously-arriving photographer.

I can assure you that I actively support the troops,
in person, the last 224 weeks straight.

And will do it again this week, week # 225

You see I'm one of those vets who had no one supporting them.

Your opinion has been noted, logged, and round-filed.

Do you really want to be The Silent Majority again?

Isn't that how the left got to screw over Viet Nam vets, people like you wouldn't stand up to them lest they soil themselves by fighting dirty when it needed to be done?

I want them to feel they've lost, I want them to feel that they have lost precious ground, and I want their failures photographed and spread all over the web, because in the end we both know what they are doing is destructive to healing of our troops mentally and physically.

And anyone that is willing to let that happen really doesn't have any conservative values to begin with.

If you think playing nice with the Pinkos is the way to win, then, IMHO, you are sadly mistaken. We played nice for too many years and it got us no where. Taking it to where they are is the way to win. It demoralizes them. They can't understand why they no longer own the streets, like they have in the past.

Do we have fun while we're Freeping? Your darn right we do. We enjoy ourselves because we know what we're doing is right. Being conservative doesn't mean being a grump old puss. Takoma and many others deserve our respect. They've given up their time, money, aggravation, etc. They don't have to. They could sit at home and whine, moan, bitch and complain about why doesn't somebody else do something.

Maybe your idea of what being a Conservative is all about is different than mine. To me, this is what being a conservative and an American is all about.

In closing I would just like to say, FREEPERS WIN.

I'm on the front lines of the culture war day in and day out.

I don't let left wingers get by with much at all in my university. I work tirelessly to win the hearts and minds of our students, and I challenge the cheeseball tactics of the lefties.

BUT, you're right, I don't believe in fighting dirty. I don't want to soil myself. True conservatives don't fight dirty. They fight clean, they fight smart, and they kick ass. But fighting dirty warps the soul of the one who uses those means. It makes them mean spirited, vindictive, and barbaric. Fighting fire with fire is a quick road to radicalism. Conservatives are not radicals.

I have participated in many a Freep against Peace Fresno. After a year of standing toe to toe on Friday night. At one point I also wondered what good was coming to me standing on a corner holding a sign in the fog, rain and blazing heat every Friday night. After some introspection I had to come to the conclusion that if someone wasn't out there giving the opposing viewpoint that our society would come to believe that perhaps is war is wrong.

Trust me we have people stop by all the time thanking us for being there to support the domestic side of the war on terror. Many, many of these people have loved ones serving in the military if not in Iraq or in Afghanistan.

You may not be aware of it, but many of the threads about our Freeps are viewed by the military members stationed in Iraq. They are very happy to see that they are being supported by us. We have received thank you cards, T-shirts and letters from some individuals. It is a HUGE moral boost to them to hear about us going toe to toe against the pinkos and peaceniks. Our military men and women are tired of the crap they read about in the NY Slimes and other rags that won't tell the truth about what is going on over there or over hear for that matter.

You don't fight at all, except to put down those here that actually challenge the left in front of Walter Reed.

I'm sure that is very inspiring to your students.

"What did you do last night, teach?

"Well I told a bunch of Freepers they weren't real conservatives because they were actually Protesting Anti war protestors outside of Walter Reed Army Hospital."

"They were protesting Anti war protestors?"
~~student thinks to self(how cool!)~~

"yes they were but I told them how real conservatives don't get their hands dirty stooping to the level of the liberals."

"wow"
~~student thinks to self (this old guy is proof positive that those that can't teach)~~

Yeah very inspiring.

This makes zero sense to me. Aren't they out there to be seen? Isn't that the whole point? You would think that they want their pictures to be taken no matter who was taking them. Pinko protestors are weird.
