Dr. Cranford said, to Hannity last night, that PVS persons have no constitutional rights.
I remember reading that thread.
Now I would say Dr. Cranford is/was a REAL threat. Although, the blind, the clueless can't even see the evil shadow right in their path. It's not like Dr.Cranford is hiding anything. No tricks here, it was all out in the open.
He's wrong, Terri was not PVS. Just another evil ploy to fit his agenda. And 33 different medical personnel have very different opinions than Dr. Cranford. The British Medical Journal in 1996 found out that 43 percent of the times patients in permanent vegetative states are often misdiagnosed.
Yes. Very likely no one person is right about threats, all the time.
Makes you wonder if some human beings have an instinct to mentally or physically "freeze," rather than go into action, when they recognize they are in mortal danger,
I agree. You said it perfectly. You can't conquer what you don't confront, can't confront what you don't identify.
Bingo!!
That's why we need to get many knowledgable people involved in a public discussion about this.
Let's find out, as sure as we can, what the real threats are.
What do you think of this idea?
You've said it perfectly.
Why are people so afraid to take a close look at what's going on?
You'd think our public leaders, who oversee the quality of medical care, would especially want to oversee the quality of care given to the very sickest and most vulnerable.
The government is already involved in protecting the "medical" rights of individuals.
Why should the government's role, in assuring quality care, stop abruptly at the moment the individual's spouse takes over?
Oh my goodness! They're BAaaacccckkkk!
So I'll be here too...in a few minutes.
I withdraw that 'emotion'.
No one here with whom I wish to speak today.
Just wanted to say how much I appreciated all your posts. You were in there telling the truth for those of us like andysmom and HairoftheDog etc.
The others can do no more than screech and lie about what we say. We are the enemy because we want to talk about the larger issues, and disagree with them.
The American people don't want the govt involved in these end of life decisions.
We will take care of those we love in the way THEY wish, and they will do the same for us.
I do agree, that I would like to talk about the larger issues...simply because these larger issues, will eventually involve all of us sooner or later...whether its with our own aging parents, our spouses, our children, or of course, when it comes to our own selves....
I never, ever want the govt. to come in, and tell me or my family, how we must conduct ourselves when it comes to the decision of medical care, that we wish to receive, or wish to refuse...and therein lies a problem...some people believe that no one has the right to refuse treatment, whatever that treatment might be...and that truly violates the most very basic rights that we each have...If I wish to say, refuse chemotherapy should I get cancer, or should I refuse antibiotics for a bacterial infection, no one has the right to force me to have those things which I wish to refuse....
But there are folks who would try to intervene and force other people into treatment, even tho its against their will...I know this all to well, I have had to deal with them in real life, not in some internet scenario...I think due diligence must be made to assure everyone concerned(that is, the family, the loved ones, the medical personnel), that a person is making decision for himself, of his own free will, and clear mind...once that is determined, no one, and I mean no one at all, has the right to force that person to have treatment, when they have decided not to have treatment...
So yes, I do think that this whole issue of what happens to folks either at the end of their lives, or if they are in a serious medical situation, is very important, very personal, and should be discussed...
I would agree with you, that having many knowledgable people involved in such a discussion would be enlightening...people could express their wishes, their desires, people could pose questions, get answers, a good serious exchange of ideas on this subject would be healthy...Could such an exchange of ideas take place, in a civil manner, with all points of view being given consideration?...I dont know...but surely its a worthy idea...
I doubt there could be an increase in incivility, over what we have now.
Someone should try.
Congress should could have panels of experts from opposing sides scheduled at separate times.
Actually, the more I consider it, the more I think it is a good idea to have a public debate, on standards of medical care, not just for the sickest among us, but for all of us...
All of us have received medical care, and have overseen medical care for our families and our loved ones...some have had far more experience with this than others....and I would guess that most of us have had what we considered to be excellent medical care, and at the opposite end we have also received what we considered to be poor medical care...
Whenever one needs medical care of any kind, there are always the truly, strictly medical issues, but there are also ethical and moral issues...
So yes, I do think a good informative public debate on this issue would be quite worthwhile...
