'Baby Jessica,' Now 19, Reportedly Marries

Monday January 30, 2006 3:31 AM

MIDLAND, Texas (AP) - ``Baby Jessica,'' whose dramatic rescue from an abandoned Texas well was televised across the country 18 years ago, got married in a private ceremony, People magazine reported on its Web site.

Crews struggled for 58 hours to rescue Jessica McClure after she fell into an 8-inch-wide pipe in October 1987.

The celebrity magazine reported that McClure, now 19, married Daniel Morales, 32, at a rural church outside Midland on Saturday. A sign on the door instructed guests not to take pictures or video, the magazine said.

The two met at a day-care center where Morales' sister worked with McClure, according to the magazine.

I don't really feel that 19 to 31 is so wrong. For generations, women married and bore children while still in their teens.

I dunno, our culture, somehow has made things different.

Our sons can die in a war but are not able to legally drink a beer. That is nonsense.

Most of the 19 year olds that I have ever known were not mature enough to raise children. I know that I wasn't when I was that age. Thank God I never had to demonstrate that inadequacy to anyone.

I am not meaning to entrench myself into some particular philisophical posture. Some people are more mature than otrhers at 19 years old. I was not one who was so.

I am under 40 years old. I have been with my husband for 18+ years - married now for almost 13 of those 18+ years. He will always be 13+ years older than I if you want to do the math, just as Jessica's husband will always be 13 years older than her.

Congrats to Jessica and her husband!

My point exactly, it depends on the person. My best to you and yours.

My rule is that if I'm old enough to be their father I don't even look.

11 years difference is the youngest I've dated, and the worst heart breaker I've endured.

My Dad married my Mom when she was 20, he was 33. Their marriage lasted 30 years and spanned the two wars he served (Korea and Viet Nam). He passed in '93. My three older sisters and I are the result of their beautiful union.

He knew 3 of his 4 grandchildren. Thank God, Mom knows all 4.

I wonder if she "clogs" at dances.

Or, did she steer clear of clog shoes?

It entirely depends on the two people involved, and the ages are entirely irrelevant.

Mary Kay Letourneau would be pleased to hear this.

While it may not be an issue here, age differences do matter in some cases.

Just to point out, that's not entirely true. When you actually join the military, you can consume alcohol.

There were some pretty happy 18 year olds just after we got out of basic training.

"and the ages are entirely irrelevant."

That's right. It doesn't matter how much younger she is, she will still believe she is his mother.

I remember this!

Wow...she's 19?

Hubby's a bit old for her, though.

My father was 20 years older than my mother. You think I shouldn't be here?

My favorite professor is 17 years older than his "dollybird." They are quite a couple, and hubby and I love them dearly.

Mrs. Professor married Mr. Professor when she turned 18. She's now in her 60s.

"Why don't we all just wish them well and not critique their private life"

Amen to that. I thought this was a conservative site where individual freedoms were honored? These were two consenting ADULTS- male and female. All the comments about the 13 year age gap only serves to make FR seem judgemental and juvenile.

I didn't know there was a required minimum age gap difference for marriage on FR. Sheesh.
