When asked by the media for his thoughts on the Hamas triumph in the Palestinian parliamentary elections, former President Jimmy Carter replied that while they have a terrorist past, at least they're not corrupt.
One of the complaints by many in the Middle East was the corruption within the Palestinian Authority and Yasser Arafat's Fatah Party.
Arafat himself squirreled away millions of dollars from aid packages that were intended to help the Palestinian people.
However, Carter's comment appears to dismiss the years of death and destruction perpetrated by Hamas on the Jewish State.
One of the first statements made by the leaders of Hamas rebuffed demands to disarm and change its charter. Part of Hamas' charter is the total destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic nation.
Israelis are in shock over this development and they wonder how they will be able to negotiate with these newly empowered Islamic Jihadists in their midst.
It's one thing to fight terrorists living in the shadows, but quite another thing to deal with them when the are legally elected officials in a sovereign nation that borders the Israeli State.
Tehran sent its congratulations to the Palestinians, the Hamas movement, all Palestinians combatants, and the great Islamic [jihad].

But you are right about one good thing he accomplished-- giving us eight years of Ronald Reagan:
In addition to the high interest rates, I remember the gas lines - unbelievable!
I'd like to say something nice about James Earl Carter now.
I'd like to
I really would
Sorry can't think of anything.
I see those keywords "worstpresidentever" and the like. As the Iranian crisis continues, it's hard to argue against that.
Wait a minute ... didn't he say that we had to work with Arafat since he was the "legitimate" leader of the Palestinians?
Didn't Arafat get a Nobel Peace Prize?
Didn't Carter say, "In 1993, the Norwegians proved in Oslo that Rabin could deal directly with Yasser Arafat as the Palestinians' leader. On both sides, this was an unprecedented recognition of the other's legitimacy."?
Why does Carter now speak ill of Arafat now that he's dead and heap praise on terrorists?
Could it be that Carter is a lunatic?
"Sorry LT Kerry.....Jimmy says he can't make it for Cambodia opp this Christmas......also said he was uspet at the idea of handing out death cards"
Klinton is/was a rapist who gave China hi-tech info, and took campaign $$$ from them, but he always ate his brocoli.
And least it is forgotten, Hamas is much more than just another Fatah. Hamas is an Islamist organization. It has goals beyond Israel and is the enemy of Western Civilization. Hamas is in a rapid and virulent growth stage.
The Israelis were, not long ago, taking out their leadership, including Yasin and Rantisi, may they rest in piss. That policy has not been rescinded or renounced as far as I know. And just recently, Mofaz said they would take out terrorists even if they were government ministers.
Jimma don't like it.
He proved to the world he was a total idiot and then become the energizer bunny stuck on stupid. Lil really screwed up.
At least we know Clinton was out for himself and said what was the best self serving quip, but it seems like Carter actually believes his tripe.
A dumbed down voting machine is to blame. I'm fed up with the useful idiots
Jimmy really is the worst President, ever.
Trust Jimmuh to provide his own unique perspective that is full of cr#p.
It can't be authenticated but some people who knew Stalin well (and in that period of the 30's) believe that his second wife's suicide was "assisted" after they had a vicious argument at a Kremlin dinner party and she ran away from the table and was found dead the next day. Also, another prominent contemporary was good to his dog - AND he didn't even smoke or drink - and was a vegetarian. Yes, it was Hitler.
---Jimmy really is the worst President, ever. ---
Don't forget LBJ.
Carter needs to STFU and go pound nails!
Well, Jimmah, at least you're conistently naive.
Well, Jimmah, at least you're consistently naive. (Fixed)
I was in Korea 5 years. By 1978 I had been transferred down to 121 Evac. LTG Cushman was still the I Corps commander when I was there.
Is there anybody that's more wrong more of the time than Mr. treasonous Peanut brain?

How does he know Hamas isn't corrupt? I doubt they keep good records on Saudi donations and Suicide bomber payments.
And if they did keep good records, they should share them with us so we can deal out some justice.
LBJ was a much better and more successful con-man. He had a long career in the House and Senate and was a very good liar. Carter was so incompetent he even shamed Democrats! But in terms of damage done to our country it's a photo-finish.
