AMERICA'S UNIONS MISGUIDED ON MORAL ISSUES
The North Carolina Conservative ^ | 1-30-2006 | MICHAEL WESTFALL

Posted on 01/30/2006 3:18:36 AM PST by carolgr

Large American unions are using their power and influence to institute cultural changes.

There are many examples of this but this paper will feature the new UAW January-February Solidarity Magazine feature called Workers’ Words. The first issue titled “Can Love Pay the Bills” suggests that the issue of homosexuality and abortion are two issues that do not affect hourly wages or heating bills and consequently are unimportant. This little propaganda piece goes on to say that some Christian union members believe the President of the United States is as crooked as a dog’s hind leg. It may come as a revelation to union officials but there are many conservative Christian UAW members who likewise believe that many Democrats are as crooked as a dog’s hind leg because of their stand against Biblical based morality in America today. Union officials need to understand that abortion is America’s “holocaust”. All life belongs to God including the unborn. Our nation would be up in arms if any group of Americans were torn limb from limb, burned beyond recognition with painful saline solutions and then flushed down the toilets like a piece of waste. It would be considered unlawful, unacceptable and insane. That, however, is exactly what the UAW Solidarity Magazine is suggesting is nothing but a distraction in this article in its efforts to demonize Republicans. On homosexuality, the one-man, one-woman nuclear family has throughout millennia been the cornerstone of civilized society. For UAW officials to support those who practice homosexuality over the profound disapproval and disgust of their members, who live in Judeo-Christian families, is a direct dereliction of duty. To suggest that such convoluted morality is the Word of God is blasphemy. In a Christian nation for the practices of abortion and homosexuality to be considered “normal” is an impossibility....

They don't give squat about the workers. All they care about is empire.

"AMERICA'S UNIONS MISGUIDED ON MORAL ISSUES"

Only one of hundreds of ways unions are misguided.

...there are many conservative Christian UAW workers who likewise believe that many Democrats are as crooked as a dog’s hind leg because of their stand against Biblical based morality... This is Non sequitur. The piece is basically a hairball from a writing perspective. Union leadership, at the top is still made up of left over or descendents of communists. Their legacy thinking is very stale and stodgy. The writer fails to see the obvious solution. He wants the union to be more like he thinks it should be instead of just being gone.

I don't know of many members supporting nationalized health care. The others you list are worthy, legal acts.
Why do you question being involved in politics unless you want to limit free speech. Are you a McCain supporter by chance?

"The others you list are worthy, legal acts."

Lefty spin won't work here.
In two sentences you've tried to change the subject....doesn't work here.
"Legal Acts"? Bought and paid for by unions.
How about illegal acts routinely used by union members like tire slashing?, lies and slander?, illegal wildcat walkouts?, funding crooked politicians?,
physical intimidation by goons?, protecting workers who sleep on the job, padding payrolls....etc, etc, etc,...

Add to your list...routinely spending (extorted) union dues of members and non-members alike on political candidates and parties that individuals do not support and would never contribute to voluntarily.

that individuals do not support and would never contribute to voluntarily.

But they do support those candidates voluntarily. In that they have the legal right to not pay that portion of union dues that goes for political purposes.

If they choose not to opt out, then they are supporting the democrat party and every leftist cause imaginable.

I realize there are laws that allow for them to inform the union to not contribute any portion of their dues to candidates they do no support, and the union is required by law to acknowledge and withhold their dues from being donated

But, reality is...the unions do NOT follow the law and do not inform their members of their rights under these laws, and ignore those members who try to keep their money from going to candidates they oppose!

The last 6 years before I retired I did not pay that portion of my dues. It wasn't that I had to pay and then they didn't use it for political purposes. I never paid it to begin with.

Had I been aware that I could do that, I would have done it sooner.

There was no repurcussions either. You are right on one point, most members aren't even aware that they can opt out. I did my part in informing them when I became aware and was responsible for quite a few members doing it too.

Good for you...too many people don't know their legal options and the unions damn sure don't tell them.
