Super Bowl Sunday terror chatter high
World Net Daily ^ | January 30, 2006 | Joseph Farrah

Posted on 01/30/2006 5:23:47 AM PST by Quilla

WASHINGTON – There is a high likelihood of a major terrorist attack next Sunday, say international terror analysts and intelligence sources.

The warning is made on the basis of several factors, according to Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin:

* There is increased "chatter" in the terrorist world about a major new attack in the West – a sign often leading to an impending strike;

* The date Feb. 5 has been specifically referenced in some of this chatter;

* The date is significant to Osama bin Laden;

* Much of the western world will be watching television that day;

* The release of al-Qaida videotapes seems to provide clues about the dates of future attacks and, in this scenario, Feb. 5 becomes the most likely near-term terror strike date.

Terror attacks seem to follow the release of al-Qaida videos by about 30 days. Some intelligence analysts are noting the significance of the release of videos recently by both Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri.

Zawahiri released his last video Jan. 6, making Feb. 5 the most likely target date, according to past attacks. Some analysts suggest the release of communiqués by both al-Zawahiri and bin Laden might be the precursor to a mega-attack – something even rivaling Sept. 11 in scope and devastation.

But there does seem to be an unmistakable pattern involved in the release of videos and al-Qaida attacks.

Zawahiri, bin Laden's right-hand man, who narrowly escaped death in the Pakistani missile attack weeks ago, seems to release videos in pairs. After the release of the second video, within 30 days a major event occurs.

For instance:

# release dates of Sept. 9 and Nov. 9, 2004, were the first set of videos, followed by the Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, bombings Dec. 6.

# release dates of Feb. 20 and June 26, 2005, were followed by the July 7, 2005, London bombings.

# release dates of Aug. 4 and Sept. 1, 2005, were followed by the Bali bombings Oct. 1, 2005.

The next set started Oct. 23, 2005, and on Jan. 6, the second video followed.

That, suggests some analysts, makes Feb. 5 a likely target date. Interestingly, it is also a significant date to bin Laden. Feb. 5, 1989, was the day the last Soviet troops withdrew from Kabul, Afghanistan, signaling their defeat at the hand of the mujahedeen. Kabul was the capital of Osama's adopted country and was a major win for him and Islam. Significantly, perhaps, in bin Laden's audio release he referenced the U.S. withdrawing from Iraq and Afghanistan.

It also happens to be Super Bowl Sunday, when the eyes of the entire world will be watching America.

Authorities in Detroit, where the Super Bowl will be played, are certainly taking the threat of terrorism seriously. According to the FBI and Detroit police, the game will be the focal point of one of the largest security operations in U.S. history, guarding against any threats to Super Bowl XL and aided by more than 50 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

Including private security guards, there will be about 10,000 security personnel on duty, more than for any other one-day event in U.S. history. Radiation detectors will be stationed near the stadium. SWAT teams, bomb removal and other specialized law enforcement officials will be on hand.

Despite the recent taped messages, authorities say there are "no credible threats against the Super Bowl."

Raebie found it and posted a link up thread (#21). It's an incredible read and worthy of a reposting:

Superbowl XL - Is this the target Al Qaeda has been waiting for? "the American Hiroshima?” (VANITY)

Why does that look more like "Attack of the 50ft. Mammary" than the Goodyear blimp?

I just found this new thread. Thanks for adding the link and SNIp of my post last week.

Everything does seem to be pointing in this direction. NORAD will be doing a second round of low-altitude air ops all over Windsor and Detroit on Wed. morning. The explanation given is that weather was not good during last week's run. I personally feel that they are sweeping the entire area for nuclear devices.

If you go to the original thread and scroll to the bottom you'll see other things I discovered in recent days.

And if you really want to read something far out. Here are some supposed Christian prophets who predicted that Detroit would "burn" and they highlight that something miraculous is about to happen in Detroit that the whole world will see. And then, during their recent prayer service held IN FORD FIELD a freak meteorological event happened over the stadium that was reported by all the local media. Hey, I'm not vouching for any of this, just passing it on....it is weird.

Last thought - 4 Christian churches attacked in Iraq last Sunday. Reports of mega-churches in US being scouted by suspected terorists. Many churches throughout the US will have services underway during the Superbowl.

The one thing that bothers me about this chatter and superbowl story is.... that detroit has the highest number of islamist in america. I would say that there has to be some sort of cell there or just islamofacist buddies who would love to bring some attention to their sick agenda. probably some poorly made radation bomb... more for terror than effect.

While I think one needs to take this information seriously, I just do not see an attack at the Supper Bowl as being effective.

1. What would they do? Suicide bombers at best would kill/hurt a handful of folks.

2. Security will be very tight, 1,000's of agents all over the place.

3. Binny wants to make a big splash, not sure how it gets done at the Supper Bowl.

They like to attack when it is unexpected. A scenario that is possible on Supper Bowl Sunday is in a different city, but where, what and why?

"1. What would they do? Suicide bombers at best would kill/hurt a handful of folks."

Actually, even a small backpack-type bomb could kill a hundred or so from the original explosion. A "dirty bomb" could kill more. The real unknown is how the crowd would respond. A stampede could kill thousands.

"2. Security will be very tight, 1,000's of agents all over the place."

I've read as much as 10,000 security personnel. Although that does decrease the probability of success, if successful, it drastically increases the desired "terror" affect which will be felt at all other sporting evens for the forseeable future...."If they could hit the Superbowl, why not the NCAA Tourney, etc..." would be the natural thought process, right?

Plus many potential terror suspects in Dearborn...next door to Detroit.

Bears repeating... thousands of potential suicide bomber in the Detroit area.

In my opinion I believe there will be a major attack on the 5th. But it doesn't have to be in Detroit. Dirty bombs, chemical weapons or other major attacks in several cites at once would stop all programs including the super bowl on all major channels as they immediately switch to coverage of the terrorist attacks and the carnage it created.

The whole world will see us attacked as CBS the SB channel switches from the game to the devastation !!

"The next set started Oct. 23, 2005, and on Jan. 6, the second video followed."

Well, today's video is the third then.....

How does that fit with the attack pattern?

There has been big increases in chatter in the past and nothing happened.

Something could happen, but I doubt it. The terrorists are going to strike when we don't expect it, not when we expect them to do so.

...and your point would be???

That the goal of terrorism is to terrorize, and if we get all nervous every time we have a special event, they are accomplishing a lot of their goals without even doing anything.

I tend to agree with you on that. none of us knows, but you are dead on...the attack could be anywhere (or in several locations simultaneously)

"...if we get all nervous every time we have a special event..."

I have to say that the only other time I felt so concerned since 9/11 was the Monday Night Football game on the eve of the 2004 Presidential Election. There had been a similar release of Bin Laden tape just prior. Nothing happened, but it doesn't necessarily mean nothing was attempted. Same thing holds true here. But there is something very different about this one. Did you read this in the original article?

"Including private security guards, there will be about 10,000 security personnel on duty, more than for any other one-day event in U.S. history."

To me, this time something is different.
