There is no problem for Dean here. He will just say the Democrats didn't write the letters before they wrote the letters.
It will make perfect sense and be a reasonable explanation as far as the Democrats are concerned. They can do no wrong and if they do they just deny it until they themselves believe it.

Doesn't matter - voter registration fraud by the Dems will make up the difference.
