New England Liberals Lead Charge Against Alito

WASHINGTON -- Liberal Democrats waged an eleventh-hour attempt Monday to block Samuel Alito's Supreme Court confirmation, arguing that he would tilt the high court further to the right.

GOP Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island also announced that he would vote against Alito's confirmation. He is the only member of the Republican Party so far to announce that he will vote against the conservative judge.

"I think he is the wrong judge at the wrong time in the wrong place," said Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., a longtime liberal stalwart. "I do not believe he is going to be part of the whole movement of the continued march towards progress in this country."

Added Sen. Jim Jeffords of Vermont, the chamber's lone independent: "The addition of Judge Alito would unacceptably shift the balance of the court on many critical issues facing our country."

But time was running out, and Alito's supporters say they already had more than enough votes to ensure that he be confirmed to succeed retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. They still hoped that could happen before President Bush gives his State of the Union speech in the Capitol on Tuesday.

Lots of Italian-Americans in New England, New York, or New Jersey...will some of them notice that the 'Rat senators are voting lockstep against a very well-qualified Italian-American nominee for no reason (other than getting marching orders from special interest groups) and become less inclined to vote Democrat in the future?

For information of why it hurts the GOP to have Lincoln Chafee pretend to be a Republican, see http://auh2orepublican.blogspot.com/2005/08/what-to-do-about-insufferable-senator.html

For info on just how liberal Lincoln Chafee is, see http://auh2orepublican.blogspot.com/2005/09/more-on-why-senator-lincoln-chafee-has.html

For info on why no conservative should support Lincoln Chafee's reelection, or support the National Republican Senatorial Committee while it is hurling mud at Stephen Laffey, see http://auh2orepublican.blogspot.com/2005/10/open-letter-to-nrsc-regarding-its.html

I feel certain that Senator Kennedy would much rather see the Judge who turned him loose from the Mary Jo Kopechne murder sitting on the Supreme Court. Fortunately for us that isnt going to happen Fat Boy./

If I lived in Rhode Island the Republican party that supports Chaffee wouldnt get a plugged nickel from me.

As for Jim Jeffords. no one cares what he thinks. POS.

This is precisely why I WILL NOT donate to any of the national Repub organizations. I figure much better to donate directly to the candidate that most closely reflects my beliefs. And that don't include RINOS!

If it were up to the New Englanders, every Supreme Court justice would be just like Judge Cashman, the judge who sentenced a child rapist to 60 days.

Why don't we stop calling these people liberals and call them what they really are? They are advocates of every single plank of the Communist Manifesto. Don't believe it? Go to the library, get a copy of Karl Marx's work and compare it with the Democrat Party Platform.

Kerry, Kennedy and other supporters of the Democrat leadership are Communists, pure and simple..

new england has always been packed full of tories.
We called them tories during the Revolution.......
and now they should be called not tories but traitors.

I'm sick of new england and their attempts to destroy
this great land......
the best thing new england's representatives could do
is to declare their allegiance to bin laden...for they
are in his pocket. that way, for once, these politicians tell the truth.
