....Are you accusing them of fudging the box office numbers?

Well, maybe they did pack, er....fudge, er.....(there's just no good term...), some of the numbers....

The Oscar nominations en-mass of Pokeback Mountain just solidifies the core of Oscar believers - the far left homosexual crowd - those who are the primary supporters of said "awards" in the firstplace.

I have made a point for years to not watch the Oscars. Over the years, they have picked some real stinkers to be the "Best Picture", have used the awards as a political platform, and have generally shown ZERO sense in most of it's selection process.

I truly believe that the heavy load of nominations of Pokeback Mountain is just further evidence of the "Academy's" demographic.

I'm not sure I believe that.....it's pretty hard to swallow.

I would not be interested to watch any of those films, even if free, that were nominated for "best picture."

I am not sure that there has been a ground swell of people seeing the movie.

Remember that the attendance numbers are being reported by a media that has recently paid heavy fines for inflating their distribution numbers to increase the rates they can charge their advertisers. That’s right, the fifth estate was behaving like a five-year old - lying to get more.

Once you lose the trust of some one or group of people it takes an awful lot of hard work to regain it.
Has anyone seen such an effort on the part of the media?

I suppose I am but one person, but I can inform all of you that neither myself, my spouse, nor my son or daughter will waste one single second of time on "the oscars".

It does not matter that hollyweird is celebrating being gay.

We have not watched "the oscars" in the last 10 or so years; this year will be no different.

"Yeah, like a documentary on the declining irrelevance of Hollywood, and why the public is no longer interested in paying to support their anti-American crap."

Exactly the wrong thing to run. You need to run something that will draw massive tune in and be entertaining. Its why people watch tv. Go buy the TV rights to Walk the Line and air it, or better yet-- THE PASSION to counterprogram the Oscars. Let the market work..FOX would own ABC on Oscar night.

ABC would SH*T, plus, it would set down a new marker in TV that you had better bring your "A" game every week.

I never watch this idiotic program anyway. This year will be the same.

I'll bet every single person on this forum could find a whole bunch of things that better use their time than this!

Right?

I feel so sorry for them. I had to break out a tiny violin.

Sorry, but that one's not small enough. What you need is a nano-violin.....

Hey, Hollywood! The reason we're not watching the Oscars is that we're not watching the movies you nominate! Try nominating WONDERFUL films and FINE acting, and we will watch.

Here is my proposed list:

Cinderella Man, and Russell Crowe as Best Actor
The Chronicles of Narnia, and Tilda Swanton as best supporting actress
Dear Frankie, with Emily Mortimer as Best Actress and Gerard Butler as Best Supporting Actor

I hope no one watched that wretched show, but I'm sure 3 percent of the country will, and their parents, and their "support group".

"ABC NOW FEARING A MASS TUNEOUT (The Brokeback Oscars Effect)

Of course decent people aren't going to tune into the Oscars to watch gay propaganda. Send a message to Hollyweird and tune out. "

Sorry to report that in the tom h household there will be no impact on the ratings. Not because we are addicted to the Oscars, but because we turned it off 10 years ago when the Oscars became a mouthpiece for a bunch of looney leftists. Even when the movies are good we get no pleasure from watching the presentation of awards in real time.
