Considering the coverage, I'm not surprised. Many reasonable people would say 'why couldn't she wear a t-shirt'? not knowing that she also raised hell.

Great point, which is why I've emailed this to everyone in my address book. We're the ones who have to get the word out and email does take on a life of its own! Please do the same.

If a Freeper held up a political protest sign while the president was making the State of The Union Speech, they'd be removed, too. This is a rule of the chamber, attendance is by invitation only. Outside, no problemo.

What's this about a tee-shirt being the reason she was removed from the House chambers. Initial reports last night said she had attempted to unfurl some kind of anti-war banner. Since unfurling a banner over the balcony of the House chambers is CLEARLY inappropriate behavior no matter who you are, I guess that act wouldn't allow the MSM to make a "1st Amendment issue" out of it.

I objected to that too. I think there's a whitewash in progress.

Now that's inappropriate, I don't care who ya are! ;-)

If she was interrupting the speech, she got what she deserved. If it was just the shirt, I can't agree with the cops decision.

Of course, I also think Cindy Jihad should be tried for treason and shot... but that is not the point.

No, she was a legitimately invited guest and deserves to have her right to free speech honored. 48%

A lot of ding bats responding.

Listening to Tony Snow, a congressman's wife had a pro-troop T-shirt and was asked to leave as well. AND SHE DID. No fuss. No arrest.

No, she was a legitimately invited guest and deserves to have her right to free speech honored.

47%"

A slight bump.

I posted this on another thread earlier when it first happened Sorry but that is just wrong.Wearing a t shirt is protected by the first amendment and its just as wrong to arrest her for that as it was for Clinton to have FReeper arrested for holding signs up as clintons motorcade passed by and for having those two protesters arrested for saying you suck.

I am a libertarian and i voted yes here. The capitol building has laws against demonstrations taking place inside the building and they should be followed. If she wants to demonstrate, she can step outside with the other pot and pan garage bands.

i just dont see how it was a violation of her rights if she was breaking the law.

We have laws against protesting in the House chamber. It's one of the many differences between the USA and a Banana Republic. Perhaps you'd like to see a SOTU with moonbats screaming, waving signs and stripping naked for "peace" in the Gallery?

Do you believe you have a constitutional right to be admitted to the White House so you can scream F***k You!! at the schoolkids as they pass you on a tour? What about in a court of law? As a juror, do you have a Constitutional right to stand up in the jury box and scream at the defendant?

You really don't understand that whole "freedom of speech" thing, do you?

Cindy Sheehan's t-shirt read: "2245 Dead. How many more?" You think that is in the same category as your examples?

By the way, Beverly Young, wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young of Florida, was also thrown out. Her t-shirt read: "Support the Troops Defending Our Freedom." Was she a disruption as well?

Only Sheehan, who was invited to attend by Rep. Lynn Woolsey, was arrested.

It's a straw-man argument. I'm more interested in knowing what specific rule or law Sheehan broke that justified arresting her.

I'll go out on a limb and state that as an invitation only event an appropriate attire thingy would have been on the invite. Semi-formal dress does not include only t-shirts topside with or without slogans.

They offered her a pass by asking her to put her jacket back on but she just had to open her mouth. . .
