My spin on this idiocy:

Plain and simple: With declining birth rates comes guilt. To soothe the guilt, these morons somehow create the illusion that these few children are "special". We aren't having more babies we're having better babies!

I just want to grab these people and tell them that I liked "Powder" and "Phenomenon" too, but get a life. They don't have special powers.

They are most likely a sign that mental disorders are a growing concern, a result of the hippie psychedelic drug abuse revolution of the sixties, and the overall increase of self medication in general. It's chemically altering their children. Perhaps that's why liberals (the children of 60's hippies) just can't reason, and imagine conspiracy theories everywhere. They've accelerated the devolution of man.
