Evangelicals to launch 'Christian AIPAC'
Jpost ^ | 2/2/06 | ILAN CHAIM

A leading US evangelist is forming an umbrella organization under which all pro-Israel Christians in America can speak as one in support of the Jewish state.

Pastor John C. Hagee of San Antonio, Texas, is to launch Christians United for Israel (CUFI) at an invitation-only "Summit on Israel" next Tuesday at his Cornerstone Church.

The Texas-size church seats 5,000 worshipers and has some 17,000 members, but the summit will host a much smaller congregation: the spiritual leaders of an estimated 30 million US Christians.

"Think of CUFI as a Christian version of AIPAC [the American Israel Public Affairs Committee]," Hagee told The Jerusalem Post. "We need to be able to respond instantly to Washington with our concerns about Israel. We must join forces to speak as one group and move as one body to [respond to] the crisis Israel will be facing in the near future."

Hagee declined to specify which crisis, noting that Israel faces one "every day the sun comes up." But at the top of the CUFI agenda is what the pastor calls "the Bible issue," namely what he considers to be the mistaken policy of trading parts of the biblical Land of Israel for peace, an agenda that AIPAC, for example, neglects.

Accordingly, Hagee says, CUFI intends to "interact with the government in Washington" and persuade it "to stop pressuring Israel to give up land for peace. Besides the fact that this does not work, Israel has a Bible mandate for the land. Now that Gaza has been given to Hamas, it has a military foothold a thousand yards from Jerusalem." ..."

You employ the reasoning of the unbeliever who tries to shame others into atheism

God was with every believing Jew in the Holocaust. God was with Hitler telling him how wrong he was and to repent. God was with Stalin telling him what a sin he was doing to the people of Russia.

God is with you right now, trying to get you to listen, too.

I am listening to God. Guess what ? He's not a Gush Emmunin fanatic.

If you are at all capable of reason, you might consider the disastrous effect this is having on Jewish Christian relations. Jews will resent being asked to die for fundamentalist Christian reasons. People like you are music to Abe Foxman's ears because you are only interested in expending Jewish blood for your own purposes. And Jews don't come into this with a whole lot of trust for Christian motives to begin with. This may come as a shock to you but the Jews don't want your Armageddon.

The Israeli people have decided otherwise.

The Arabs aren't going to leave. Period. So your entire reverie about 'paying the Arabs to leave' was the purest wishful thinking. Facts are facts and the Israelis are not going to mass deport Arabs from Gaza and the West Bank. Period.

So returning from Yehuda and RaceBannon land to the real world, Israel understands that it can either

a. Try to rule the Palestinians forever and give RaceBannon his Armageddon. or...

b. Consolidate behind secure, ethnically cohesive lines.

What we have here is an alliance between the Israeli settler lunatic fringe and fundamentalist Christian religious nuts. An alliance that will be disastrous for both because the Israeli mainstream has decided that it will not allow them to write checks that Israel has to cash.

Ugh. You again.

Last time I heard from you on this forum you were waxing poetic about Malcolm X. Let me guess: You sympathize with other Muslim miltants too?

Yeah. You might want to check out our previous exchange on this thread. I've even asked him before if he sympathized with Yasser Arafat, and he offered up no response.

Well, you might not be willing to call MLK a "weenie," but your continued references to him as a "pink plaster saint" aren't much different.

And it was the intervention of the federal government that made his [MLK's] strategy correct. Without it a NOI/Malcolm X strategy would have been the correct one.

I'm not surprised that you take a consequentialist, almost military view of the civil rights movement. Perhaps your your warlike approach to domestic social conflicts is the reason you shower praise on groups like like the NOI and IRA, who also preach a violent form of nationalism?

King, however, took a very different view of the civil rights movement. He pursued nonviolence and eschewed reverse racism not because of the favorable outcomes associated with his strategy but because he believed it was the morally correct thing to do. And, yes, he thought it was the correct thing to do, even if it proved to be a losing strategy.

If that makes him a weenie in your eyes, so be it. I wish you'd just come out and admit it.

BTW, I'm curious to know how you feel about Yasser Arafat? Is he one of your personal heroes too?

Frankly, most of what you said was too stupid to respond to.

The facts are the facts. The Israeli people have decided that they will not let religious nuts decide their agenda. Whether you like that or not is of no importance. What is of importance is that all the tenuous work the GOP has done to reach out to Jewish voters will be destroyed if the Christian Right aligns itself with the Israeli lunatic fringe.

And while we are on the subject I have no use for romantic failure. The correct strategy is one that is grounded in objective reality like that of Ohmert. And given the military backing of the federal government, King's strategy. Romantic failure, like the fringe nut settlers, is for adolescents.

The Palestinians are and will always be the population of the West Bank and Gaza and that is just the way it is. There isn't going to be any 'transfer'. They aren't going to take any money to leave (where can they go ? who wants them ?). So leave aside hysterical fantasies and face facts.

Love Hagee! Count me in! His new book "Jerusalem Countdown" is FABULOUS! I highly recommend it.

Me too! I love his teachings! Hagee is one of the BEST preachers out there! He KNOWS the Word of God, and he doesn't sugar coat the message. It comes straight from the Bible. He's one of the BIGGEST friends Israel has. He knows and understands Prophesy! He KNOWS what our relationship to the Jews is. I'm reading his book, the "Beginning of the End", and it's a GREAT, power packed book! I'm going to get "Jerusalem Countdown" as soon as I'm finished with this one.

Just saw this linked on other site.
81 minutes with dial up.
Is this a freebie, do you know how these work?
Might it cover similar things and study as the DVD set?

Frankly, I am waiting for an intelligent response from the Hagee crowd and I have yet to see anything even close.

Tell me some more about how thrilled Jews will be to die for Fundamentalist Christian reasons.
