Watch this video: Manning's Fierce Prayer for Bristol Palin
-
Rev. Arnold Conrad, in delivering an invocation at a rally today for John McCain in Davenport, Iowa, apparently didn't get the word from the candidate about elevating the tone at such gatherings. Conrad, who appeared before the crowd before McCain had arrived, offered a prayer that seemed to urge divine intervention to prevent Barack Obama from winning the presidential election -- and cast the outcome as a referendum on differing religions. The Times' Maeve Reston was at the event, and she passed along the key passage from Conrad's words: I would also pray Lord that your reputation is involved in...

A northern Minnesota preacher's presidential endorsement from the pulpit of Republican John McCain over the weekend is part of a national challenge of federal restrictions on such political expressions. The Rev. Gus Booth of Warroad Community Church made his endorsement Sunday as part of the Alliance Defense Fund's "Pulpit Freedom Sunday." The fund said Booth and other pastors around the country were exercising "their First Amendment right to preach on the subject, despite federal tax regulations that prohibit intervening or participating in a political campaign." Booth, a delegate to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, said Monday he did...

Pastor Luke Emrich prepared his sermon this week knowing his remarks could invite an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service. But that was the whole point, so Emrich forged ahead with his message: Thou shalt vote according to the Scriptures. “I’m telling you straight up, I would choose life,” Emrich told about 100 worshippers yesterday at New Life Church, a nondenominational evangelical congregation about 40 miles from Milwaukee. “I would cast a vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin,” he said. “But friends, it’s your choice to make, it’s not my choice. I won’t be in the voting booth with...

BAGHDAD, Sept. 15, 2008 – Many soldiers join the Army as a way of saying thanks, while others feel it is their patriotic duty to serve the country that has offered them a life full of endless opportunities. (My description as there is none with this video) Rev. Dr. Manning blasts the media on their negative coverage and emphasis of the Palin's 17-year old daughter,Bristol vs. the background of Obama and Obama's mama and daddy. This is some strong stuff coming from an African-American minister against how the media is dumping slime on Bristol Palin and trying to smear the Palin family. Rev. Dr. Manning is a bit repetitious, but that is par for the course for these type ministers. And he speaks with the force that Wright blasted his congregation against white Americans. Yet, he makes a clear...

September 11, 2008, 1:02 PM Report: Palin Asked Rick Warren For Advice Posted by Vaughn Ververs| Comments5 GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin called influential pastor Rick Warren earlier this week to ask for advice on how to handle the criticism that has come her way, The Hill reports. In a California radio interview, Warren said that Palin had called him to seek help in dealing with the “unfair, unjust” attacks she said she believes had been launched at her since being tapped as John McCain’s running mate. Warren recounted the conversation, saying he responded by saying, “the question I asked...

He almost wrecked Barack Obama's presidential dreams, and now firebrand pastor Jeremiah Wright has helped destroy a Dallas church worker's marriage - and her job, The Post has learned. Elizabeth Payne, 37, said she had a steamy sexual affair with the controversial, racially divisive man of the cloth while she was an executive assistant at a church headed by a popular Wright protégé. When word of the unholy alliance got out, Payne's husband dumped her, and she was canned from the plum job at Friendship-West Baptist Church, she told The Post. "I was involved with Rev. Wright, and that's why...

Barack Obama’s former pastor has been cavorting with another man’s wife, whom he romanced while she worked at a church in Dallas run by one of his disciples, according to a report in the New York Post. Elizabeth Payne, 37, told the Post that she and Rev. Jeremiah Wright, 67, had a sexual relationship this year and that she was fired from her job when the affair was made public. Andrew Sullivan claims a petard is about to be hoisted, in reference to a sermon recently given by the pastor of Governor Sarah Palin's church, one Larry Kroon. Sullivan clearly believes that it is exactly equivalent to some of the controversial sermon remarks of Barack Obama's pastor and mentor of twenty years, Jeremiah Wright (remember, Obama named one of his memoirs from a phrase his pastor coined, and praised him enthusiastically until the day he threw him in the garbage). The transcript of Larry Kroon's sermon is is at this link. The audio is here. Here is the portion we're...

Palin’s Radical Pastor Calls on God to ‘Bless’ USA by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 2 Comments (2008-09-06) — In the days following Gov. Sarah Palin’s appointment as John McCain’s running mate, Americans have grown increasingly concerned about her brand of radical Christianity. A new recording released to the media today by Barack Obama’s campaign, gives definitive proof that Gov. Palin’s pastor, in an emotional tirade, once called on God to “bless” America. The recording captured at Wasilla Bible Church, the Palin’s home congregation, will doubtless cause discomfort among educated Americans, and raises new questions about Gov. Palin’s worldview. “It’s...

When comments from old sermons thrust the Rev. Jeremiah Wright unfavorably into the national spotlight during the Democratic primaries, the Chicago pastor maintained wide support among black churchgoers who have admired him for decades. And few black churches have stayed more loyal than Elmwood United Presbyterian in East Orange, where Wright next Sunday will begin a weeklong church revival, titled "Recapturing Our Prophetic Voice." He has led revivals there every September since 1989. Wright's ties to the church come from his 22-year friendship with the Rev. Robert Burkins, Elmwood Presbyterian's longtime pastor. The two met in the mid-1980s, when Wright,...

These are incredible times to live in

O.K., sorry for the vanity but I have a concern. This Saturday night, McCain and Obama do a forum together at Saddleback Church, where Rick Warren is the Pastor. This can be crucial, relative to the religious vote in this presidential campaign. Many think the smooth-talking Obama is going to come off great and leave John McCain, who is not one to talk about regligion, looking like a dolt. Many believe this will be a huge opportunity and advantage for Obama. I wish to heck Rick Warren would have left well-enough alone. He's just got to have some "spotlight". This...

The pastor of the Set Free motorcycle ministry, out of jail on $50,000 bail, spoke about his arrest to more than 100 of his parishioners over the weekend. Pastor Phillip Aguilar, 60, founder of the Set Free church, told the congregation he was not angry about 150 police officers raiding his properties on Wednesday. Officers from police departments throughout Orange County got warrants to search and seize properties from several Set Free homes. He said he knows the image his organization portrays -- one of heavily tattooed motorcyclists who drive fancy bikes and cars -- played a role in how...

California mega-church pastor Rick Warren says Christians should not be reticent to work with Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists, and even atheists to cure societal problems. In conjunction with the presidential forum he is hosting next month at Saddleback Church, Pastor Rick Warren will convene an interfaith meeting for 30 Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders "to discuss cooperation for the common good of all Americans." Warren's global P.E.A.C.E. plan is an effort to mobilize churches around the world to combat what he calls the five "global giants" of spiritual emptiness, corrupt leadership, poverty, disease and illiteracy. But he says he has no...

Lieberman said he had been urged not to speak to Hagee's group, Christians United for Israel. Advertisement "The bond that I feel with Pastor Hagee and each and every one of you is...
