Police have accused a North Carolina pastor of attacking a McDonald's cook and trying to push him into a deep fryer.
Dwayne Wadden, 57, was arrested and charged with assault after police were called to a McDonald's branch on S. Main Street in High Point, North Carolina, on Thursday.
According to his Facebook page, Weeden is a pastor at Elevated Life International Ministries and works as a semi truck driver.
According to police investigation records seen by Business Insider, he came to the fast food joint to assist his wife, LaToya Gladney, who is a manager-in-training at the branch.
Gladney, 44, had called her husband to help her handle the employees, who she told police were “disrespectful” to her.
Police say that upon entering the restaurant, Vaden walked straight up to the counter and attacked the 34-year-old cook.
The police investigation found, “The offender came into the McDonald's on S. Main Street, walked around the counter and placed his hands around the victim's neck and pushed his head toward the deep fryer.”
He was then accused of punching the cook several times, causing scratches down his neck and a “major bruise” to his forehead and right eye.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but his family took him to hospital for treatment.
Weeden did not stop the attack until several employees removed him from the victim and restrained him until police arrived, police said.
After viewing security camera footage of the incident, the pastor was arrested and charged with assault.
A hearing has been scheduled for January 22 and a bail bond has been set at $1,000.
Seems attempt to permanently mame someone is far more than “assault”.
I would expect more charges to be filed, unless the DA is on the take or personal friends with this guy.

After seeing the alleged perp’s name spelled 3 ways in the first 3 mentions, I began to feel a certain lack of confidence in the accuracy of the story’s other details. The failure to exercise even the most basic editorial standards is rather astonishing. ,

The author must have been writing this at a New Year’s party after a few too many drinks.
My thoughts also. I don’t think I’d take any stock in the accounts told by LaToya or other employees there without the benefit of video recordings (of which there should be plenty).

It’s hard to dance around basic facts like who did what when basic facts don’t fit the agenda.
