Same basis, yeah. It would provide a nice, ego stroking sense of 'Wow, I must be a really spiritual person to have just done that.'

But my understanding is that it's not to be done without an interpreter (so why would a person do it by him or herself)- something that's also missing in a lot of assemblies with the tongues going on - it would be difficult to have that many interpreters when six or seven people are going on at the same time.
