Mullah Sought After Boys Flee School In Chains

Mullah sought after boys flee school in chains

By Massoud Ansari in Karachi
(Filed: 05/02/2006)

Pakistani police have issued an arrest warrant for a mullah at one of the country's Islamic schools after two young pupils claimed to have been beaten up and kept in chains for failing to memorise Koranic scripture.

Mohammad Ammar, eight, and Ahsan Mawia, 10, were found crawling through the streets in shackles in the dead of night after fleeing in terror from a strict school in Karachi. The pair were in a "hysterical state" and showed "visible sign of torture", according to police who examined them.

Ordeal: The two boys are recovering after their escape Their ordeal has reignited concern over the lack of controls on Pakistan's estimated 20,000 Islamic schools, or madrassas, which already face accusations of sponsoring Islamic militancy.

Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf pledged to bring them under closer supervision last year after suspicions that two of the London July 7 bombers, Shehzad Tanweer and Mohammed Sidique Khan, had used madrassas as rendezvous points with al-Qaeda operatives.

The case of the two young boys has attracted considerable publicity in Pakistan, and has led to madrassas facing scrutiny over the methods of their teaching in addition to its content. Police said the boys, who had been sent for schooling by their impoverished parents, had previously tried to escape. The pair told detectives that during their eight months at the school they were beaten almost daily and given very little food to eat.

"We were slapped and beaten with wooden sticks almost every day because they thought we were not improving and we were unable to memorise the long verses," the boys said in a statement.

On their first escape attempt, fellow pupils spotted them and brought them back to school, after which they were severely beaten and chained up to prevent them running off again. They finally broke free after jumping from the madrassa roof at night.

"They kept crawling all the night in chains in the streets, and were finally spotted by a local who brought them to the police station," a police official said. "One was bleeding profusely, while both of them had bruises and visible sign of torture."

The mullah running the school, who has since disappeared, faces a charge of illegal confinement and up to 18 months in jail.

Staff at the school, which has about 150 male pupils, are said to have claimed that only unruly pupils were disciplined, although the two boys say such punishments were widespread.

I want those murdering thugs in Damascus who are sending people across their border into Iraq to kill American GIs taken out in the most rapid and violent manner possible. STM took a bullet in the chest from a Syrian rifle.

Syria sponsored the bastards who murdered my brothers back in '83.

I find the prospect of killing large numbers of people distasteful just like you. Nobody who's actually had to take lives relishes the thought unless they're a criminal or a psycopath. But, I don't see any other way wrt Syria.

Iran presents a different problem. Most average Iranians (who aren't arabs btw) hate their government. They'd probably stand up and cheer if a few cluster bomb laden cruise missiles hit their 'parliament' building while that madman was speaking. I've advocated dropping small handguns and VOA radios by the thousands to the Iranian student movement. Once they've got handguns, pretty soon they'll have rifles..then machine guns...then by God you've got a revolution with some teeth.

So for Syria we send a couple of armored divisions rolling towards Damascus killing anything that resists.

For Iran we do everything we can to foment an internal rebellion and this time we see it through.

This may sound ignorant (it is), but why aren't we getting tough with Damuscus? Why aren't we helping revolt in Iran?

Does the military not recognize the importance of it? Are politicians afraid that there isn't enough will of US citizens for it? Or what?

It's probably those treasonous pussies at the State Dept who are peeing in their pants at the thought of 'offending' the Syrians and Iranians.

I don't know why we haven't already started bombing the staging areas in Syria. We have to know where they are.

All I know is I'm getting pretty tired of hearing about American GIs getting blown up and shot at and when we do manage to find some 'insurgents' they always seem to be carrying Syrian, Iranian, and Saudi passports.

Mines a real simple three part plan.

Flatten Damascus.

Foment popular revolution in Iran.

Threaten the Saudis with annihilation if they don't stop their shit.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying things but I really don't see a downside to my plan.

Explain the crusades. Do you mean the part about the Crusades being a response to muslim incursions? What, exactly, do you want to know?

It makes sense, so far as I can tell.

If we are choosing a path that leads to more dead US servicemen, and to longer drawn out fighting increasing the overall death toll of Middle Eastern civilians, and to increased difficulty of helping establish decent, functional democratic governments, all because the State Department is afraid of hurting the feelings of known murderers and terrorists...

Then that really pisses me off. And I hope people with the power to push for us to take the better course, do so.

I know damn good and well there are a lot of evil Muslims, I have fought against them twice already, but it's you that are the mis-informed fool for making a blanket statement that because of them, all Muslims are bad, evil, American-hating cretins.

Maybe you aren't ignorant, maybe your occipital and temporal lobes have converted to islam.

Here's an interesting story about some rattlesnakes that escaped from a zoo. Funny that their final portal to freedom was a MOSQUE:

"Twenty Three Muahideen affiliated with Al-Qaeda have escaped from a maximum security prison in Yemen. Among the escapees are 13 convicted of the attack on USS Cole and the French tanker Limbourg. The prisoners dug a 70 meter tunnel under prison cells to the mosque near shore. They were assisted by others."

Try doing a little reading. The Crusades were initiated by European Catholics, not the Papacy as many assert. Please don't tell me you think they were a "defensive" operation

Alright!
Haaa-ha-ha-ha!

You say, I cannot get there from here, baby
Then I don't care where I'm goin'
Here's to your thin red line
Mmm, I'm stepping over

Thought you'd never miss me till I got a fat city address
Non-stop talker, what a rocker
Blue-eyed murder in a size five dress

Change, nothin' stays the same
Unchained, and ya hit the ground runnin'
Change, ain't nothin' stays the same
Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'

I know, I don't ask for permission
This is my chance to fly
Maybe enough ain't enough for you
But it's my turn at a try

Thought you'd never miss me till I got a fat city address
Non-stop talker, what a rocker
Blue-eyed murder in a size five dress

Change, nothin' stays the same
Unchained, and ya hit the ground running
Change, ain't nothin' stays the same
Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'

(Guitar Solo)

Change, nothin' stays the same
Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'
Change, ain't nothin' stays the same
Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'

...Woo-hoo! Take a look at this!
Hey man, that suit is you!
Whoo-whee! You'll get some leg tonight for sure!
Tell us how you do! Hoo hoo hoo!
(Come on Dave, gimme a break)
Hey hey hey hey! One break, comin' up!...

Change, ain't nothin' stays the same
Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'
Changed, ain't nothin' stays the same
Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'

Change, ain't nothin' stays the same
Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'
Change, ain't nothin' stays the same
Unchained!

No idea what became of his body. After several SAW and M-16 bursts his body was filled with more holes than Mark Geragos' defense strategy for Scotty P. We left him there to rot. I was just happy to still be alive after that one.

APPLYING FOR WORK VISA SKETCH
(TWO MIDDLE-EASTERN LOOKING MEN SIT IN A WAITING ROOM AT THE INS. A SECRETARY TALKS ON THE PHONE.)

ABDUL
Now, Mohammed, you have nothing to worry about. You're an upstanding citizen of our country, you own legitimate businesses, and you are simply applying for a work visa. There's nothing to worry about.

MOHAMMED
I know, I know. I'm just afraid that in today's climate that they will fix the process and deny me my work visa simply because I am Muslim. MOHAMMED AL-ZARA ENTERS THE NEXT ROOM. MR. HUDSON SITS BEHIND A DESK READING SOME DOCUMENTS.

MR. HUDSON
Please, have a seat. Mr. Al-zara, everything with your work visa application seems to be in order, there's just one last thing for us to finalize the process. Where were you on September 11th?

MOHAMMED (Flustered.) Excuse me? MR. HUDSON I'm just kidding! Relax, I'm just trying to break the ice. You seemed a little nervous. I was just trying to set you at ease. MOHAMMED Oh, yes, of course, silly me.

MR. HUDSON Now, seriously. How long have you known Mohammed Atta and the other September 11 conspirators? MOHAMMED What? MR. HUDSON Gotcha! Mr. Al-zara, relax, you're too uptight. This is the INS, not the CIA. Or…is…it? MOHAMMED (Looking around.) What? MR. HUDSON Kidding! Boy, you are too easy. Maybe we should just get down to business. MOHAMMED Yes, please.

MR. HUDSON
Now there really is one more thing. Everyone applying for visas must now take a Rorshack inkblot test. Are you familiar with that? MOHAMMED Yes, you show me a picture of a randomly generated inkblot, and I am supposed to tell you what I see, yes?

MR. HUDSON
Exactly right. Why don't we get started? Mr. Al-zara, what do you see in this first inkblot? MR. HUDSON HOLDS UP A CARD WITH AN INKBLOT ON IT. MOHAMMED I see a prize-winning racing camel.

MR. HUDSON Okay, good. And this one? MR. HUDSON PUTS DOWN THE FIRST CARD AND HOLDS UP THE SECOND. MOHAMMED I see the sun setting over the sand dunes of my home village.

MR. HUDSON
Okay, great. Very good. And Mr. Al-zara, how about this one? MR. HUDSON PUTS DOWN THE SECOND CARD AND HOLDS UP A THIRD. MOHAMMED Ha, ha, very good. Another joke. AK-47 assault rifle. That's a good one.
MR. HUDSON Are you telling me you see an AK-47 assault rifle in this inkblot? MOHAMMED Of course. That is what it is supposed to be, correct? MR. HUDSON Mr. Al-zara, these are randomly generated inkblots. If you're seeing an AK-47 assault rifle, then we may have a problem.

MR. HUDSON
Let's continue, please. What do you see in this next inkblot? MOHAMMED Oh, come on! You can't be serious.
MR. HUDSON Is there a problem? MOHAMMED Yes, there is a problem! These are supposed to be randomly generated ink blots and this one has clearly been manipulated to look like Osama Bin Laden!

MOHAMMED
I was afraid of this. I was afraid you would try to fix this against me. MR. HUDSON Excuse me, but nothing is fixed. This is an objective test. I'll prove it to you. MR. HUDSON PRESSES A BUZZER ON HIS PHONE. MR. HUDSON Ms. Abernathy, could you please come in here? THE DOOR OPENS AND THE SECRETARY, MS. ABERNATHY WALKS IN.

MR. HUDSON
Ms. Abernathy, what do you see in this 3rd inkblot? MS. ABERNATHY I see a little bunny rabbit frolicking in a field of daisies. MOHAMMED Oh, this is ridiculous!

MR. HUDSON And this 4th one? MS. ABERNATHY A teddy bear.

MOHAMMED
This doesn't prove anything! She works here! I will not stand for this! I am a law-abiding child of Allah, and I refuse to be treated with such disrespect! I am leaving. MOHAMMED AL-ZARA STORMS OUT OF THE OFFICE. MR. HUDSON AND MS. ABERNATHY EXCHANGE CONFUSED LOOKS....

The so-called "religion of peace" is neither.

Its very core is based upon evil constructs and cultural fallacies.

Until its adherents strongly and actively denounce and fight the radical elements which lead the violent charge against non-muslims, they are as evil and dangerous as their brethren. Inactivity and acquiescence is aid and comfort.

Do you really think that being snarky and ugly is a good way to exchange ideas?

And, yes, the Crusades were initiated by Europeans. But - they were in response to islamic incursions, and sought to retake formerly Christian areas.

As per Wikipedia: "The Crusades were a series of several military campaigns—usually sanctioned by the Papacy—that took place during the 11th through 13th centuries. Originally, they were Roman Catholic Holy Wars to recapture Jerusalem and the Holy Land from the Muslims, but some were directed against other Europeans, such as the Fourth Crusade against Constantinople, the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars of southern France and the Northern Crusades."

Also, just a tip - might be a good idea to use sources other Wikipedia, which can be notoriously biased and inaccurate.

I apologize for being snide with you but I have been hit on all flanks on this one by blindly hateful and ignorant people on his issue. I am so stiking tired of mis-informed and bigoted people judging all Muslim people by the actions of some. I am willing to bet the majority of them have never even set foot into a middle east country and ever talked with a single Muslim in their country, not ours. I spent over a year living amongst and protecting people that, though Muslims, were better "Christians" (from a morality and values standpoint) than one heck of a lot of people in this country that actually call themselves Christians. They have allowed bigotry, fear and mis-information to cloud their opinions.

I understand what you are saying. But the saying about "you may be paranoid, but they REALLY are out to get you" may apply here. Islam is a religion that inspires pathological behavior.

Have you read Eli Wiesel's book, "Night"? The Jews refused to believe the reports that the Nazi's were rounding Jews up for the gas chambers. They kept telling themselves that surely such things couldn't happen. They were horribly wrong. I fear we are making the very same mistake. Sometimes preemptive destruction of a few thousand people will save millions. That was Truman's reason for dropping the atomic bombs, and it was a good reason.
