Is nothing sacred?
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 2/5/6 | EDITOR

Posted on 02/05/2006 8:17:53 AM PST by SmithL

THE CARICATURES of Muhammad that have ignited an international furor are offensive and recklessly off base in portraying the prophet as a terrorist. The cartoons lacked artistic merit or satirical sophistication. We have to wonder: What were the Danish cartoonists and the newspapers that originally decided to publish them thinking?

Still, the global reaction is far more disturbing than the editors' great lapse in taste and cultural sensitivity. The protests by Muslims demanding violent revenge against the cartoonists -- or, in some cases, against Denmark generally -- are an affront in their own right to a religion of peace. They also guaranteed that many millions of people would quickly go to the Internet to see what the fuss was all about.

Strong editorial cartoons can be outrageous, unfair and, yes, irreverent to the most sacred institutions of society -- even to the edge of blasphemy at times.

To liberals, especially to the San Francisco variety, sacred applies to anything not Christian or Jewish.

Mad Mo was a terrorist. He used force to institutionalize Islam. Mad Mo was also a pedophile who married a 6 year old. He had been jailed in his lifetime for being a criminal.

What an idiot. The cartoons are portraying ISLAM as a terrorist organization. That's the real reason the mullahs are so sp upset that they're inciting the ignorant to riot, because they've been accurately hit on their foreheads with the truth.

I expect this to come out of San Francisco. Who else would show reverence for a sick, twisted, violent pervert like mohammed, and at the same time, promote "art" exhibitions of Jesus Christ being mocked and insulted with Him in jars of urine or of his Mother painted with elephant manure? San Francisco and it's citizens are so lost I believe they think it's ok to think islamofascists are on the same level as Christian fundamentalists. Well, let's see how far they're understanding of diversity will go in a wacky society like that of the muslims.

Ah yes, The Chronicle as the arbiter of artistic merit and sophistication. I doubt they said anything negative about the "artistic merit" or "satirical sophistication" of Piss Christ or Virgin Mary with Elephant Dung.

"..., the global reaction is far more disturbing than the editors'..."

I am reluctant to say it, but I find the ragheads reaction somewhat gratifying, because the reaction insists that civilized people everywhere are increasingly becoming aware of the mentality of the enemies of civilization.....let them rock-on.....the acute attention they seek is just around the corner, everywhere but the WH and State Dept, incredibly!

No law, of state or religion, should be allowed to become the ultimate arbiter of freedom of expression.

The msm reserves that right for itself, ALONE and without criticism.

A) The "prophet" was a terrorist. And a child molester.

B) Between this story and the WaPo story you can see that these lefties aren't just anti-Bush or anti-American, they ARE pro-terrorist.

Heaven forfend!

"We (the MSM) have worked very hard to suppress the fact that Muslims are batsh*t crazy. Please DO NOT go to the internet and find out for yourself!"

BTW, there's some great fun going on over here. (Warning: image heavy with some slightly offensive content.)

True evil hates nothing so much as being mocked. It is an insult that evil cannot resist.

Maybe Christians should burn something down when they get insulted. (Though there would hardly be any major newspaper left standing I fear) I know beyond a doubt they would not receive the same calls for cultural senstivity.
