50 public figures named in gay witchhunt by Cameroon's paper

Cameroon has been rocked by an anti-gay crusade in newspapers that have accused more than 50 prominent figures of homosexuality.

Homosexuality is illegal in Cameroon as in many African countries, with jail sentences of up to five years, and editors say they are on a campaign against "deviant behaviour".

The latest list by the weekly tabloid L'Anecdote sold out within hours and vendors resorted to selling photocopies. Those named included government ministers, news readers, popular singers and sports stars.

"Men making love to other men ... is filthy. It may be normal in the west, but in Africa and Cameroon in particular, it is unthinkable," L'Anecdote's publisher, Jean Pierre Amougou Belinga, told Reuters. "We could not remain silent. We had to ring the alarm bell. We don't regret it and we have to do it again ... in spite of numerous death threats that me and my journalists have had."

The tabloid La Meteo launched the campaign to "out" gays in Cameroon at the end of January with the publication of a three-page dossier of names, following a vehement denunciation by the Roman Catholic archbishop, Victor Tonye Bakot, at Christmas.

Archbishop Bakot criticised the European Union for giving legitimacy to homosexuality. He lashed out at those calling for same sex marriages and derided gay people who wanted to adopt children.

"in gay witchhunt by Cameroon's paper"

Wouldn't that just be a "gayhunt". They didn't out any witches.

Or any "gay witches".

Ummmmm.....No. I don't care what the sheepherders did in that movie, it still isn't normal.

Eh. This is a little over the top. Way too much room for abuse. I suspect there are some grudges being settled in this.

Sure they are, so they can openly recruit the young.

Also, why my wife and I have pretty much forgotten about retirement and are sending grandkids to private and parochial schools.

When I was in high school that bit about 'Children are the future.' was becoming popular with the liberals, although it had not yet evolved into a battle cry.

They had that part right. For my grandchildren to have any decent opportunity in life, not just economic, but to be free, they will need a superior education. Not what passes as education in many circles today, but a superior command of both the English Language and mathematics, exposure to classical thought as opposed to the pan drippings of fried liberal brains, and a solid moral base.

That will not come from any of the public schools around here, I am sad to say.

They will, as need be, figure out how to put a condom on a pickle without having had explicit instruction, will understand the difference between love and lust, and hopefully will avoid the pitfalls many of their peers will stumble blindly--or even be propelled into.

They will not be perfect--I do not expect them to be, despite keeping standards high. If they somehow fall short of those standards, they will still be loved.

I just realize that for them or their peers to have any chance to help straighten this country out, they will have to not only know how, but know what they are missing.

There will, within a decade or two be an increasing number of really pissed off young people who will realize (hopefully) how their entire generation has been duped by the liberals. People who can point out that the emperor's new clothes are nonexistent will be at a premium, either for that capability, or from the price on their heads.

It may be a blessing, it may be a curse, but I do for them what I think is best.

Maybe it is, I don't get out that way much, but here in the South we don't approve. And those guys in that movie aren't cowboys, they're shepherds. There's a difference. When a cowboy says 'get along little doggie' it's four words, not five.

This is funny. A paper in Cameroon is getting sales that the New York TIMES, Washington POST or the Los Angeles TIMES could only dream of. Nobody snaps up our politics-sodden U.S. papers this way. Only fetish-grade liberals buy the papers for their front-page editorials that purport to be news.

Sales throughout the U.S. newspaper have been going down, down, down for years. Could it be because they are biased against the moral values of the American majority? (Hint: yes)
