Cardin's cash edge over Mfume draws ire of black Democrats [MD Senate race]

ANNAPOLIS -- Black Democratic lawmakers yesterday attributed Kweisi Mfume's paltry war chest to their party leaders' efforts to ensure that Rep. Benjamin L. Cardin wins the Democratic nomination for Senate. "The Democratic Party ... [has] tried to orchestrate Ben's success from the outset. Them boys got together and said, 'Ben's the one,'?" said Delegate Nathaniel T. Oaks, a black Baltimore Democrat who has endorsed Mr. Mfume. "It's a problem because of the message that it sends to individuals who may be interested in the future in holding elected office, especially African-American young people," said Senate Majority Leader Nathaniel J. McFadden, a black Baltimore Democrat and a Mfume supporter.

But Derek Walker, executive director of the Maryland Democratic Party, said the party is "militantly neutral" and has not tried to pick who succeeds retiring Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes, a Democrat. "The voters will be the ones who decide which leaders will serve them," Mr. Walker said. According to fundraising figures released yesterday, Mr. Mfume -- the former president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) -- trails far behind Mr. Cardin, a 10-term congressman from Baltimore.

Mfume is getting a Kweisi stomach.

He's also Kweisi for falling in love.....with the Democrat Party.

Ever see Kweisi at the Gugenheim with the late Jackie Gleason?

Mfume has enough ex-wives and girlfriends at his former place of employment (NAACP) to be a viable candidate for the US Senate. I'm not certain how many kids this scumball has, but I'll bet it is a bunch, and they might be able to vote for him too. If I remember correctly, he has five or six children by different women, but that's o.k. because he's a dimorat! The NACP got sued on account of Mfume's fooling around, and that is why Julian Bond got him fired. I don't know how much it cost them, but I think a good bit. Hey, maybe Mfume and Teddy Kennedy can get together and swap notes if he wins.

They're just now figuring this out? Perhaps they'll also realize that the DNC picked Pelosi over Harold Ford or that Clinton did not have a single African-American in his inner circle, or that AlGore convinced Donna Brazille to 'voluntarily' work for $37,000 as his campaign chair while he continued to pay Daley six figures, or . . .

Delegate Salima S. Marriott, a black Baltimore Democrat ... said "the Democratic Party is the only alternative in Maryland for African-Americans and working-class people."

In other words, black voters are the property of the Democratic Party. Presumably, if any escape, we should return them to their owners?

Sorry Salima, but working class people left the Democratic plantation a long time ago.

Queasy will win the rat's primary in Maryland. The funny thing is that he pulled a stunt that will win him the primary but lose him the general. Queasy no se fume voluntarily "came out" and backed gay marriage. That will get him queer ( their word not mine )and hard left votes in the primary. Nevertheless, it will kill him in the general because there is zero love for gay "marriage" in the Black community.

That's the one I feel like we really have the best chance of taking, though I'm very hopeful about Maryland. Tarrant in Vermont will be getting some cash from me, as will McGurick in Washington & Santorum in PA. The fields against Stabenow in Michigan, Bingaman in New Mexico, and Nelson in Florida are still wide open, but I've got my checkbook ready for when they narrow.
